Anyone ever have an issue with the converter not working? I don't know why it's stopped functioning. In the system process menu I can see converter.exe running, the no GUI ever appears and it's not in my taskbar.

This looks quite fantastic guys. Looking forward to a full release.
Great work as usual. Modular is definitely the way to on the hut. Makes life so much easier.
I have the latest version of RoE on Steam. I downloaded RoE 1.1 but it crashes after the mod is activated. It reloads the UI then as the text says "reloading interfaces" or something to that effect, it crashes. =\
We're still developing the mod, just not on ModDB! Don't worry, we'll be posting about it soon :)
Thanks man. It's cool if we doesn't like it, I'd just like an explanation. Can't improve if I don't know what's wrong.
What exactly do you mean by ugly? You have a rather rude manner about artistic criticism.
Thanks for the heads up! A friend of mine pointed that out yesterday morning. :D The night before showing the new video on Youtube, I tweeted it to the staff at Kotaku. Guess they liked it! :)
Looks fantastic! Great work on this :)
We might make a skirmish based mission for that, definitely. The engine has limitations though. We can't crash ships together because of collision spheres on the models.
As for the single player campaign (when we work on that) it will be a custom non-canon storyline, in which the twelve colonies are not lost in one shot, but instead it becomes a drawn out second war. You'll get more details about that later on.
Yeah, Nexus TJI was one of the best games ever that nobody has heard of. Sort of like Magic Carpet. Critical acclaim from reviewers and press, but no real market frenzy. Problem with Nexus is that the studio was soo small, the advertising budget was non existent. I hope Nexus 2 hits it's budget and has better advertising prowess.
About time :) I've made my pledge.
Nice shot. The blue nebula is well done, looks great. Though I'd have to say it makes the rest of the space background look worse, heh. Viper looks good as well.
Success! :) Glad you enjoyed it. We'll try to get a few more videos on here, leading up to the 4.5 release.
OOph, you really need to turn off the "ship combustion" option in the graphics settings.
GAH. Anything spider-esque scares the bejesus outta me! Looks great :)
Also, I put out a casting call to my industry friends on Facebook/Google+. Hopefully that will get ya a few more entries.
Looking forward to them! I'd love to do a campaign for BSG, but I don't even know where to start with all of the modules and compatibility issues. Can't wait! :D
In the show, the ship is not visible until after the flash. We're going to be making it as close to the show as we can. Remember, we don't have source code for this engine, so we can only do so much with it.
Like xavier said, geometry isn't the problem. In fact, geometry is hundreds of times cheaper to render than textures. Textures are dependent on the fillrate of your card, which older ones tend to not have great performance with. Each set of textures you add (bump, spec, etc) is another pass of the model, meaning the engine has to redraw the entire model multiple times every single frame. Textures and shaders always have been and will be the bottleneck for game performance.
If you're having bad performance, try lowering your quality settings in the game menu. This will lower the texture resolution and also use a lower LOD for the model.
Sure was! :)
Yeah, the MKIII looks a bit menacing :) I have BSG on Bluray but the extracted data still isn't high res enough to be used as textures. In fact, it's quite blurry. I remade the nebula using a combination of images from hubble and other telescopes, as well as some handpainted work.
Wow Dreamor, that's incredibly nice of you, thanks! :D
I was thinking about using Pegasus heavily in the 4.5 release trailer. Maybe her and Valkyrie. :)
It's 3673x700...that's kinda high res. I can make taller panos next time, if that's what you're looking for.
