Ideally, I'd prefer to see parts of the carnifex mounted or hoisted rather than the entire corpse. For instance, a mounted head as is seen with the warrior trophy atop the venerable dreadnought. Or indeed parts of the carapace or talons plated along the chassis. I guess it's the entirety of the carnifex being left on top of the rhino that just wasn't to my personal taste. But I feel that I've taken up too much of the comments section with criticism!

I agree. It does indeed and as I had said it is an accomplished model and piece of work. My criticism isn't levied against your capabilities. As I had said to thudo, you're creating art and as such tastes will vary as mine do in this particular instance but I still commend your work as artist.

I'm not disparaging creative intent, and again, it's not that I don't know what a trophy is or what the lore is for the tyrannic veterans. I hoped to offer constructive criticism as it wasn't to my personal taste and I respect that everybody's will differ.

You're creating art, after all, and tastes vary. I meant nothing more or less by it and of course I still think you're doing an excellent job.

You misunderstand me thudo, I'm not criticising nid trophies and I in fact applauded that aspect of the model. My criticism is based on it's execution in this particular case rather than it's principle. Criticising the model doesn't mean I don't understand any of the lore.

If my original post wasn't clear I apologise, but my criticism is based on two points - the carnifex looks less like a decorative trophy as it does with the excellent venerable dreadnought, and more like a corpse simply draped over the model. And also that I personally found the carnifex a bit much for a simple rhino. I intend no insult to the modeller or yourself by extension because as I had said the model is well made, I just don't find it to my subjective taste.

The modelling is excellent and I really like the theming of the tyrannic vets, but I would agree that a dead carnifex on a rhino might be a bit overkill. It suits the land raider wonderfully as it's a late game and bigger unit, but for a mere transport a fallen warrior or some dead gaunts might be more appropriate. I would also say that the corpse appears to be more spread-eagled across it less like it's a trophy and more like nobody bothered to clean it off the transport.

But regardless it's a very well done piece, my niggles aside.

I'm not sure if everybody here's been keeping up with the DOW franchise news, but yesterday it was announced that there will be no expansions or DLC for DoW3: Eurogamer.net

I anticipate an upsurge of interest in this project - while many had immediately cut their interest from the new game, a lot of people were holding out to see if patches and expansions could 'fix' the game. Now that this is certainly not and is never going to be the case, straight from the horse's mouth, more will see Dawn of Glory as their main hope to see their 40K RTS wishes fulfilled in a modern project.

That's a solid decision, I agree that flyers were poorly implemented.

Also to clarify, I'm not a medical doctor! I'm a pharmacist.

Your mentioning of the deffkopta raises a question - what are your plans on implementing it as a skimmer? Will it be similar to the space marine land speeder or eldar falcon/vyper/fire prism and be a "ground" based vehicle that ignores the effects of cover, or will it be a flyer?

I see that you intend the mod to be compatible with dark crusade, so I imagine the former? I had been wondering this when I was thinking about shadow spectres in dow1.

I'd ordinarily be delighted to put together some scripts, however everything I know of primaris marines is pieced together from wikis like lexicanum. I've never read Gathering Storm 3, or Dark Imperium, which I'd imagine to be the required reading for the task.

Will you have any fancy FX for the shimmer shield in action?

Hear hear! Nurgle has always had a place in my heart because I work in healthcare and deal with a lot of people working through various illnesses. A world where that could empower them is a very unique concept in fiction.

And the eldar... the grimdark that is their society, psychologically constricting them because free thought is genuinely dangerous, with no freedom even in death where they may still be forced to fight. Fascinating stuff!

Likewise, it's encouraging to see somebody not only with interest in these, but with the talent to sublimate that interest into something wonderful for the rest of us!

That is wonderful to hear! Thanks for the reply.

If you are creating the wargear/weapons of ALL aspects, that leads another question; have you decided what aspects the Autarch will draw from? Or, if all wargear is in game, will/could it be a player option to select aspects like the necron lord does forbidden artefacts?

YES! Wonderful! I'm currently nearing the end of Gav Thorpe's Path of the Eldar trilogy, this is wonderfully timed news!

But most importantly, it is very good to hear that your health has improved and that you're feeling productive. I think your work is astonishing but none of it takes precedence over your health needs.

Quick eldar question! What kind of warrior aspects do you plan on including? The vanilla aspects, or more? If we have gorkanauts and imperial knights might we see shadow spectres to shoot them down?

Would you believe that after years of playing, I have only today realised what the Giger paint scheme is referencing. I sometimes worry myself. Cool feature, gents!

Also, not to harry anybody, but is there a revised estimate for 0.5b3?

I love the new faces, excellent job as always. Would it be possible to also include a more 'grizzled/world-weary' face in the mix, akin to the vanilla face on the top right, or indeed the second from the left?

Hah, I appreciate the offer but unfortunately I wouldn't be in a position to offer the time required to support mod development at present, my RL career takes up much more time than it used to.

Thanks for the info with v0.5b2, that very much appeared to be the case but I'm glad for confirmation that it's not just something silly I did on my end!

I had first found the unification mod when I had been 'checking in' to see if the ultramarines mod had any updates and saw the notice there. Some might find it misleading if the tyranids are listed as a race in the post there but they are not yet compatible!

I've noticed that yourself, fuggles and the rest of the Thudo team seem to be producing a lot of work in 2017, a lot of mods that had been silent since 2013/14 etc have received updates which surprised and impressed me! Have you found new brothers with OE/modelling abilities to move things on, or have missed expectations of DoW3 simply inspired you all to action?

Hiya brother Gambit, it's been a long time since I've been in this neck of the woods, good to see you still working on.

I've encountered an issue with tyranids in the unification mod, was wondering if you had experienced anything similar. Setting an AI tyranid player results in a fatal SCAR error, and using Miros' tyranid AI fix simply results in fatal SCAR errors coming up for ALL races.

I understand that you're using a different tyranid version. But have you heard similar reports from other players using v0.5b2 with the mod?

A cursory glance at the years preceding the wars is always provides good food for thought. Many point to France demanding their pound of flesh at the end of WWI that created a crippled and desperate German nation.

But even this falls to the usual fallacy of attributing blame to a whole damn nation of individuals, when it's the decision of a few to make these actions.

Not my work, mate! That voice, like the model itself, comes from the old tabletop-roundup mod (TTRU) for winter assault, back when WA was the latest version. The warhound titan model, and original voice, came from that mod too, among a bunch of other things you'll see populating DoW mods to this day.

A devastating loss. Mr. Williams himself once said in an interview that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. But strength can fail us all when we find ourselves alone in the dark. The long battle wore him down in the end. He was a tremendously talented man, but also a symbol to many who suffered from affect disorders. Like many here I grew up with his work; as an adult I had no less reason to admire the man.

His loss has stirred up the same tired 'sad clown' routine that passes the media like a viral infection every so often. That funny people are all secretly depressed inside or something. What is definitely true is that depression can hit us all, regardless of disposition, and that help is there if you choose to look for it.

I played a similar game a while back. One of my conditions was people reporting the 'bug' that was the absence of daemons and daemonhunters in 1.73.4 (despite changelogs, FAQ posts, and news posts).

Whatever about my health, I just flat out ran out of drink in the apartment.

That which could easily fit into the crap category is the stuff we just talked about about male aversion to whatever it is that made it a mistake to try to befriend her, followed by the whole 'hero' nonsense.

Do note however that calling people **** like 'hero' attracts more than a fair share of ire. I'll not be derided for throwing my voice in when a stranger talks what can forgivably be seen as crap to a close friend.

Generalising that a whole damn gender has cause to dislike an aspect of her character is a good start.

Although when I look at it now, I can see that it's more likely to be a matter of poor wording than any bad intent. Perhaps I was rather hasty, my apologies.
