Are indie releases the future of Gaming;
Lately we see less quality titles from major gaming companies and most quality independent releases from small companies or independent developers.
Most titles are often overestimated, except for Mass Effect, the Elder Scrolls, the Call of Duty and releases like Bioshock 2 or Dishonored who still do the trick for most major companies.
On the other hand we have failures verging on exploitation. The DICE and EA released their Battlefield 4 apparently to catch up with the releases of Xbox One and Playstation 4, but the game itself is in most cases unplayable.
Disconnections, loss of saved games, hangs, and yet it is still sold and not only that, EA and DICE instead of showing some sensitivity and apologize, and even make refunds to the hundreds of thousands of players who bought the game, they continue to ignore almost defiantly admitting that they released a product that was unfinished.
On a different perspective, the Dragon Age started ideally leaving positive impressions to RPG fans, but progress was a disaster.
Staying in RPG camp, the Witcher started as an independent effort by a small company and while we approach the release of the third part of the series, has created a strong fan base and this is a serious achievement when you’re not Bethesda, EA or Blizzard.
If you search a bit into Desura, Steam, gog.com, in indiedb and other online stores will see a huge number of games that you had never heard of and which will amaze you because it’s made by gamers, with love, with passion and appetite without pressure and deadlines.
Be advised, even the indie games aren’t all perfect and there are discords, while not all the same quality. However most of them are beautiful travels and some of them are masterpieces.
