Actually, Gunther has an unused different dialogue at the cathedral and after escaping UNATCO where he doesn't mention Anna's death. Also Gunther can be avoided too and it will also feel weird that he stops chasing you. Would be interesting to see Gunther and Anna appearing later in the game somewhere (if not killed of course), but they would appear red automatically. Just a thought though.

Basically what CyberP (Totalitarian) said. I also get the point of a NewGame+, but the problem is the game is designed to get harder as you progress. You start off with not many skills, but you also only have to face weak nsf terrorists who can barely aim and give up only after a few shots taken. Then as you progress and get more skilled and more augs the game starts throwing mj12 troops and commandos at you to give you a proper challenge. Then comes GMDX and pushes the game to a new level where it actually gives you a more appropriate challenge after the 3/4 of the game with mj12 elites and nano augmented mibs and it makes sense, because in the vanilla game after Hong Kong or so the game kinda gave up and stopped throwing harder enemies and challenges at you which GMDX corrected to a certain degree, although I think this could be taken to even a higher level, but that's just me.

Now comes the problem with NewGame+. If you restart the game with a skilled and highly augmented character the game will be way too easy on the first 3/4 and won't be challanging anymore.
Adjusting the game's difficulty to NewGame+ is a lot of work and would also destroy the game's feel with having elite nfs troops with plasma rifles and military bots running around on Liberty Island.
Simply allowing the player to transfer his character to a NewGame+ without any other change might be easy to do, but that kinda destroying what this game is actually about: Building up your character, choosing the augs and skills that works for you the best an so on. Using GMDX for Deus Ex isn't unfaithful towards the vanilla game, because it stays very faithful to its original design. It feels like that patch/expansion pack they never released.

And as I said before: If the player really wants to have some fun with an overpowered character again from the start, then he/she can use cheats up to the realistic difficulty. Again, same thing. I like to **** around sometimes too with cheats and it can be fun, but I like the fact that CyberP added the Hardcore mode where there's no dicking around anymore.

Yeah, but that's sort of cheating anyway. The thing is you are not supposed to get every skill, perk, aug maxed out in one playthrough. That kinda takes away the fun factor of building up your character and choosing the augs and skills you might think would be useful. If you are really a fan of this mod like I am, then just try with each playthrough a different playstyle. Like now I just finished a playthrough where I Used no weapons, but only relied on sneaking, athletics, hacking and stealth related augs. Lots of fun figuring out the right tactics to get passed the enemy without being seen. Now I'm trying out a heavy weapon character with flamethrowers and ****. This way you can also make better suggestions which CyberP, unlike many people, will actually read and consider. Just give it a try.

Increasing the required computer skill is pointless, because most people who played and beaten DX several times know most of the login codes for computers anyway. And sorting that out, meaning that for every password, code etc. doing the same thing as with the tong base meaning even if you know the code you still can't enter it, because you need a specific flag, would be an endless amount of work.

Killig Hundley got harder. There's a security guard stationed on his level watching over the place. Obviously it still doesn't justify the 2000 credits he asks from you, but it's a start.

If you are talking about Human Revolution kind of "NewGame+", then just use cheats xd

Now, what also would be cool to have a similar minimalistic representation of the Versalife building on Tonnochi road. Now that would be the tits.

Then might as well finish the game with v8, because then you will be able to truly see and appreciate the stuff that will be added in v9.

About the corpses being throwable and splatable (are these actually real words or did I just made them up? xd) maybe it could be included as a cheat code just for fun.

What I really like about GMDX is that a lot of its stuff is optional. Not only with the difficulty settings where on easy most of the AI changes are disabled, but in the game options menu you can disable and enable so many things it's crazy. It's like create your own Deux Ex experience and that's awesome. I never really played a game before which allowed you so many options.
Although, I do believe mantling doesn't need to be optional, because the original game was seriously lacking this feature. I mean yeah sometimes it might allow you to climb over walls which you aren't supposed to and enter the negative zone xd But most of the time it felt kinda retarded, that a wall/ledge above your waist without the speed/jumping augmentation was your greatest enemy. So I doubt anyone will disable mantling, because then might as well just play the vanilla game without any mods which is for me pretty hard after playing GMDX xd

Hey CyberP, in the AI section I think as a selling point for the mod you could've also mentioned the new Agressive Defense System that you gave Walton Simons in the hardcore mode.

...you did give him one, right?

...Please?

Gmdx has hdtp character models disabled by default if that's what you mean.

Unconscious bodies were never killable. That was a TNm feature (and a shifter one I think), which I do have to admit, I'd love to see this in GMDX. What I'd also like to see if you knock out an important NPC like Walton, then that shouldn't count as a death so if ko'd in the oceanlab, then he should come back in Area 51.

Well yeah, 3 slots should do the trick, but nothing less. Otherwise it would need another nerf if it would only take up 1 slot (even if it's logical). Like decrease its damage even more or make it slower.

I think the problem is being able to throw stuff with force. I mean doesn't matter how well you balance it, it won't work. You either get a game where you can kill off an army by only throwing heavy stuff at them, like the incredible Hulk which looks ridiculous to say the least or it will be so bad, that nobody's going to install it. At least not for this ability. I still say it would be better to simply merge combat strenght with the muscle aug and as a counter one could think of something completely new like EMP/Taser charged melee weapons and throwing knives or something like that.

I find the large metal boxes to be more fun. I mean they are indestructable, it only takes like 3-4 throws to blow up a military bot, and you can even hide behind it if the need arises xd

HellCaller - - 88 comments @ GMDX

Balancing reasons. It's still the best melee weapon in the game. More powerful than the crowbar which takes up two slots and more powerful, than the sword (Dao) which takes up 3 slots. Yeah, it's weird that it takes up 4 slots even though you can clearly see it's retractable, but in this mod realism is often ignored in favor of balacing/gameplay. It's not that it's a bad thing, but this is how GMDX works.

Well yeah. I wish it would be like in the TNM mod where if you upgrade the light aug it won't consume energy anymore. But to honest, it shouldn't consume energy anyway, because it's more like a flashlight in other games. If anything, level two should work like a tactical flashlight attack which makes the npcs go blind for a few seconds. Now that would be worth the energy consumption.

Also, how does the light aug work anyway? I mean where does the light source come from? From his eyes?

I see your point, but I do think you can find enough biocells in the game to keep you going. I mean I've beaten hardcore mode several times with halved ammo, no autosaves and so on, but I never really had a problem with bioenergy. Hell, I even had biocells to repair ballastic and Cloak vests. Obviously I didn't have everything turned on all the time, but that's part of the challenge, that you need to make yourself a strategy on how to use your biocells and shots from the bots wisely. I consider this a difficulty change, because otherwise I would just **** around not caring about wether I get hit a bunch of times or **** away my bioenergy, because I can always run back to a medbot or a repair bot and fix myself up.

Also, as a plus biocells and medkits are finally not useless, because since bots give you a limited amount of shots you need to rely on the aformentioned things.

Wasn't planning to offend you. I just thought someone who thinks that this new bioenergy thingie makes the game too hard isn't a veteran player. I thought this is a pretty neat idea, because otherwise I could go rambo on everyone with full augs and would never have to worry about energy, because there's always a bot nearby. Now I actually need think when I really need my augs which is good. Well maybe hacking skills could give you an extra shot on higher levels or so, but making it infinite again would make the game way too easy.

About your other two ideas. I think the hearing and sightrange of the npcs are okay. I mean yeah it could be better, but then CyberP should also rebuild or at least heavily alter some maps, which are clearly aren't made for stealth. I mean if there would always be a ventshaft or small maintenance tunnels which you could lockpick and crawl into or a tricky stealthy path or paths which you could take by using lockpicking, multitooling stealth perks and so on then it would be fine to make even harder npcs from which you couldn't hide so blatantly easy.

About the alarms: I agree. Already told this to CyberP and he did make some changes where if you sound the alarm, then additional npcs will spawn. But yeah, he could take this to the next level and causing the alarm should cause the npcs to actively search for you, could also increase their reaction time and on most maps additional troops should be called in by chopper or so.

I doubt players need compensation for this. The game was way too easy with the bots giving you infinite amount of bioenergy. And besides on easy and medium bots still give you unlimited recharges so I think you should stick to those difficulty settings for now. I mean Hardcore difficulty should live up to its name and not be a hand-holder for players. If the player isn't skilled enough, then he/she should lose on hardcore. Simple as that. Beating it should be an achievement through practicing and learning the skills required to beat the game on the highest difficulty level.

Well yeah if you have the ballastic armor installed then the vest will only give an edge rather than adding that 100% of its protection on top of the augmentation. I mean 57% armor is already too much for my liking, because I can soak up so much damage from bullets on hardcore it's insane.

Yeah, that would be kinda cool, although then the augs should drain more energy when they're in use. They should drain more energy anyway, because I think they kinda do the job for you. That's one of the things I liked about 2027. You had pretty cool augs there, which could give you an edge in combat, but they drained your energy pretty fast so you also had to rely on your personal skills. Although in that mod the augs drained a bit too much energy, but still better, than having most of my augs turned on and going full rambo on my enemies.
