Only if you make a trick to recharge the boost before the jump. If not, you will most likely overheat before crossing the gap.

You have two ways to do it.

First, the one suggested by the level: you boost since start, go the jump thing, aim for the left wall, don't forget to press jump on the right moment. Then you hope that you went enough to the left, and flip the car to "catch" the wall, and finish the gap like this.

Second method, which is apparently the one used by the best times on this level: Boost since the start, do a barrel roll to recharge your boost before the big jump, preferably without losing speed. Then during the jump, tilt the car to the back, a bit, so that your boost keeps you in the air longer, to cross the gap.

Whichever method you choose, keep in mind that there are two such jumps in a row. Though if you are not after the time record, nothing prevents you from just waiting for the engine to cool down before attempting the second jump.

And of course, expect failure. Lot of it. Repeatedly.

His problem is probably that the default flight control is closer to an actual joystick: press forward, it dives.

There is a setting in the option screen named "invert flight Y axis" which is probably what he is looking for.

That said, flight is really only something "extra" in this game. The main interest is in the hardcore levels, wall-jumping, and other stunts like that.

You, sir, need to skip to the "hardcore" levels. Wings are disabled there. Much more fun.
