correct but this was far more deadly, it is like almost like being in the center of an atomic bomb, which for a millisecond was 10 times hotter then the sun ( a.e the core 15 million degrees Fahrenheit), the early projects involved close range, so it virtually fried you. The improvement i was talking about was increased range, but not altering the close range affect of instant melting to death.

I agree, the GAU-8 Avenger the 30mm gun on the A-10 thunderbolt II is very big and powerful, it account for most of the aircrafts forward weight and should be more visible.
