I've been animating and working on mods for GoldSrc and Source for the past 15 years. I've worked on Sven-Coop, Nightwatch, Synergy, and numerous others throughout the years. While this is not my full-time job, I still love building and modifying games in my spare time.

Why would you say that? We posted a bunch of screenshots just a month and a half ago and the discord is extremely active and we just had some live-streams from developers as well as beta testers streaming on twitch as well. We also just updated the closed beta branch a few days ago and the internal branch gets daily updates.

Most likely not as there are a ton of programming changes and variables under the hood. The character models aren’t even compatible as we have an in depth body group system in place for human characters.

Were making steady progress but there is still a lot to do. There are only a handful of us working on what is a pretty large project. One of our issues is feature creep—we keep thinking of new things to add to the game or change which causes tangents in development.

Yeah trying to build on the horror a bit, especially before the player gets armed to the teeth. Zombies aren’t really scary when you’ve got rocket launchers and Gauss guns.

Actually the combine are dumbed down hgrunts. They had a ton of their code stripped out and replaced. The combine don’t actually use any real strategy and instead just run directly into the player. They don’t flank or take cover and they barely communicate with each other. They don’t even seek cover to reload. If you have the combine and grunts fight each other (using the SDK) it’s a complete slaughter. The grunts win every single time with almost no casualties.

That’s a pretty cool project you took upon yourself! Unfortunately the nature of the game would make it peculiar for a Scandinavian accent/character. The quality of the acting itself is also just okay—I don’t mean that in an insulting way either. That’s the reason Quattro and I aren’t doing voice acting—we can’t act for ****! If we were going to add a new character entirely we would need someone with a background in acting or a natural talent.

AI has been improved. Very little scripting involved. Also making better use of squads throughout the game.

Call of Duty sprinting really has no place whatsoever in Hard-Life. Gordon's movement speed is already quite fast in the game.

Gordon’s model will not be upgraded as those were the graphics of the time and he actually has one of the better quality models in the game. Gordon is actually the gold standard I am using in terms of bringing other models to his level of fidelity/quality where feasible.

I play with a higher FoV than most (115) but the mod will ship at 105 which is the actual FoV HL is supposed to run at when calculating for wide screen. I am personally very fond of the weapons origins as they are more visible instead of being fired from directly under Gordon’s chin.

I don’t believe in forcing the player to slow down in a single player game. It’s just another one of those things that sounds like an interesting idea but would just annoy the player in a bad way. That being said we are working on some ideas to implement ground or wall based alien traps

No, they are regular hgrunts but with some small model tweaks to bring up their quality a tiny bit. The old gas mask grunt literally had a box for a head and no neck.

No that won’t be an issue. While of course it would probably run slower on a 486, any machine in the last decade should not have any issue whatsoever.

Barney can now have a Glock, MP5, or a Shotgun. He may get a .357 yet but that depends on further expansions of the maps. At the moment, the pacing will get thrown off if we pack more and more stuff into the existing maps. I am currently working on expanding some levels and adding sub-chapters. If a powerful Barney is deemed to be a good fit in there somewhere, we'll add him in.
