Is there still a way to reset the story without losing all your collected parts and colors? I tried the control-enter-delete combination mention in the update a while back, but it doesn't seem to work.

Feedback time!
1: the new forward + normal attack (let's call it 'the jab' for now) is a bit obnoxious. especially if you want to just run up to your opponent and just use your normal three-hit combo, the jab just gets in your way. A good solution would be to map the jab to dash + normal attack (double forward + normal attack). That way you also can't spam it so easily when you're close to your opponent
2: The super-smash bros-like special attack selection system is a bit screwed. Prior to this update, when holding two direction keys, you would always do the special attack mapped to the last direction key you pressed. walking first, then holding the 'up' key while walking, and then doing your special, would execute your 'up' special attack. Now, however, your 'forward' mapped attack overrides everything, so while you're moving, you can only do the 'forward' special attack. It's kind of similar to the problem with the jab: while you're walking, your attack selection becomes clumsy, and you can only select one attack.
3: now that you can slide while doing the down + normal attack (which is a great improvement on it's own), the slice dash ability has become somewhat obsolete. The slice dash has missed out on the damage increases abilities such as slice, uppercut, sniper shot, and machine gun have gotten over the past few updates. I suggest the slice dash' damage is increased. which brings me to point 4:
4: The same goes for other underpowered, neglected abilities such as launch and blaster. The drill and tornado are, digging aside, kind of similar in use, but the drills power is just nothing compared to what the tornado can dish out. Virus slice is a bit too weak too, if you ask me.

5: Tornado is pretty overpowered and way too easy to spam, and 19 damage for an uppercut is just plain ridiculous.
6: ability/part diversity: some abilities are restricted to only one part (such as virus slice, or attack speed up), which is a waste, since I think they're cool abilities with a lot of potential, and it's a shame to see them on only one kind of enemy with one specific part in the entire game. It goes the other way around too: for example, hips are predominantly used for spinkicks and plus jumps (although the latest level went in the good direction with a hip that can lay bombs)
and that's it! thanks for removing the awful shield break knockback and annoying frostbyte deep soundtrack, and the new colorizer interface and hub is great. Keep it up!
.... it's the ghost soldier head. Ironic. I got it right after making such a little hassle about it :P
I don't know it's since I still don't have it yet, but it's the only head from the binary fortress I don't have. The other heads are cybershot headgun, madpot head, pomus head, imperial battle head, zomzom head, and velox head. So yeah, all but that one I can't even name.
that one head part in the binar fortress is more difficult to get than the holy grail made of goddamn unobtanium :(
awesome new idea. You know how when two hurtboxes intersect, both attacks are miraculously cancelled? I can understand why it's done like this, because being able to hit each other (as you can see in the developer match vid on this site) kind of ruins the aerial combat. Still, having your attacks disappear when an enemy just so attacks you at the same moment, is kind of stupid-looking and anti-climatic. I've got this wild idea to solve it: power contests! When you hit an enemy at the same time he hits you (or when hurtboxes intersect), you'll be locked into direct contest of strength, i.e. mashing the attack button! (add epic slow-motion to your heart's content). the loser of the battle will take a massive hit & knockback (or perhaps an insta-death? that would be a cool reward for totally owning your foe in a in massive buttons). anyway, this would resolve the stupid attack-cancellation issue, but better yet, it would add an awesome new feature to the game.
I would assume it'd be a complex feature to implement in the combat system, and I feel kind of too late for coming up with this now, while the game is already seemingly far in development. But better late than never, and this article just looked like a fitting one to post this on.
that's all for now.
I think I found a knockback bug. It occurred at the beginning of a tournament round, and I faced the guy who had the 'strange head part', the one which reduces your shield in life in exchange for no damage when it breaks (I suppose this had something to do with the bug). The fight went like this: right away, I hit him with a normal combo, and then with an uppercut, which he shielded. his shield immediately broke tho, and he was flung to the sky at top speed. I beat the guy in about 5 seconds.
Which is that? I seem to only have the hammer part.
Weird stuff is going on. I can't seem to download the new update yet, I can still only download MegabytePunch_OSX_Update8.zip.
good to hear most of it already crossed your mind. here's two I forgot to add: bosses don't chase you and in fact completely ignore you when you go down a pit in the map, and you can't plant bombs in pipes. that's all. have fun developing, en bovenal, heb een gelukkig nieuwjaar!
With great updates comes great feedback. here we go, I have a lot to say:
1. a major bug in fighting. sometimes, when facing to the left, you will attack to the right and it will seem as if you are attacking from your back. I always get this when using the slash ability, but it affects some other attacks too. it's really weird and annoying, and occurs both when using a joystick and using the keyboard controls.
2. environmental hazards. (this is more of an opinion than factual feedback, but still.)
virus clouds are starting to get overused, and anybody who doesn't want to get riddled with viruses now has a virus immunity part equipped. this makes the virus clouds, at least as environmental hazard, quite useless (especially the steam blowers meant to toss you into a cloud are now purely decorative). May I suggest you add a new trap, to which you can't be immune to spice things up a little? (for example, spikes, lasers, anything)
3. general HB-03's dialogue contains a spelling error. instead of 'emperor' he says 'emporer' in his second speech bubble.
4. the imperial battle head's description says it's slice dash ability deals 12 damage, but it deals 5 just as the slice dash legs do.
5. the part storage is starting to get cramped, and I fear that with the coming of the next level, it won't be able to hold all the parts anymore, although you were probably aware of this problem already. A bigger problem is the mess it's becoming. The part storage desperately needs a sorting and/or searching system to smoothen up it's use.
6. the colorizer stage is also getting quite cramped.
and the rest of the update is pure awesome. I love the guy in the village who speaks a word of Dutch, it really surprised me when I figured out you would have to be Dutch also.
Keep up the good work!
ah right. It wasn't under the 'article' section and I didn't bother to check if there were any new doenloads lower on the page, hence why didn't have the update yet.
there's a 'get the latest update now' button in the menu, but the new update is not yet avaliable. Is the button inaccurate, or is the new update ready, but just not uploaded to Desura yet?
legit feedback: it's obnoxiously difficult to fit through a vertical gap with a width of one block. there should be some way to climb down/up through those gaps, because now it's near impossible.
argh, I confused the color in the village with another, I had it all along. *facepalm*
good, I figured out a way to get a 'delete' key on the mac. don't worry about that.
hey, is there also a key combination for deleting your progress on a mac? a mac doesn't have a 'delete' key, so an alternate series of hotkeys would be nice...
awesome new graphics! can't wait for the next stage to come out. also, fake walls to hide colorizers with? this is gonna be though...
also, a small bugs: no matter how many times I pick up the new color hidden in the town, it doesn't get added to the colorizer stage. and when I enter the colorizer stage, it reads 'level 5, frostbyte deep' as though I entered that stage.
I knew that 4 was the max, I didn't get a an extra life when I had three lives and hit 100 bits... but it seems to be over. a short, but weird glitch I guess.
crap... there's a bug. I can't get an extra life by collecting 100 bits... making frostbyte deep extremely difficult to finish. D:
hellyeah... I finally tracked down my favorite color! the search took me across all the edges of all the stages so far. I found it eventually, stashed away in a godforsaken corner of frostbyte deep. damn that was a nasty search.
on the other hand, I have found 14 colors now! the colorizer stage is filled do the brim. could I have them all? ^_^
well what do you know. found it already :D
alright... I got the update. it was quite a hassle finding out how to re-download the game (since I'm on a mac I don't have Desura installed... making it a bit more difficult). I still have all my progress, thank god, but now where is the door to frostbyte deep? behind the infected tunnel? I guess I should go back to the deadlands to get a virus immunity part then...
needless to say, I'm a bit clueless about where to go with this new update.
oh and hey, can you make the game to work with PS3 controllers too? apparently PS3 controllers get messed up with the xbox settings. I'll be trying to work it out now that you can change the controls in the settings, but adding a button that changes the settings from xbox to PS3 instantly would be very nice.
EDIT: oh wait, don't worry, I already figured it out :D.
ah, I feared that would be that would be the case. thanks for answering, this will save me a lot of time searching in the deadlands. keep doing what you're doing, this game is awesome so far.
I've got a question. I can't seem to get a virus immunity part (altough I noticed the boss of the subprogram deadlands has one) so I can't progress through the red virus clouds in the second village. do I have to search in the deadlands (already been there three times now) for an immunity part, does the boss drop it, do I have a bug or did I simply finish all the levels already?
