Yes, it is a texture. Actually it's two textures and a shader to be exact.
The Earth map is around 10,000 by something, the cloud map 8,300 by something.
Since they are separate texture maps that allows me to have shadows cast on the planet from the cloud map. :D

Hey SonnHalter,
My computer isn't the best but it is capable of rendering those planet renders out at about one minute per frame. :D. Add the frames add the minutes I guess. :P
