I did come up with another game mode that I could add pretty late in development, similar to the challenge maps in portal. Basically just a series of short maps with a focus on one mechanic that you can play against the clock. Since it doesn't affect the core of the game I decided to push the game first and add that after the release, so I will probably start work on that after the release.

After I finish that, I have a couple of ideas for potential projects after this one, but I'm still not 100% sure which one it will be.

All of that said, I think after release, I'm going to take a break for a couple weeks. This will leave me free to fix any emergency bugs that make it into release, focus on marketing the game, and generally to relax for a bit as this has been quite an exhausting experience.

Between the room you start in and the room with the upgrade, there is something that will let you open that glass cabinet, just keep looking.

Did you get the upgrade that turns your hands blue? You can't actually use the door switches until you get that upgrade. As for being able to force the doors open, as long as the power is off to the door, you can use any prying tool to get the doors open. The hammer, screwdriver, or crowbar will all do the trick.

All of this information is actually in the game, too. When you are in memory mode (the one with the purple clouds), you can walk around and inspect the various parts of the ship to get an understanding of how all of the pieces fit together. It is supposed to be a puzzle game, and I personally made sure to beat the map that is packaged with the demo, so I know it can be done.

The website comments are locked because when they were open I was getting 100+ comments a day from spammers. I don't really know what to do about that.

For the demo, the aliens don't prevent doors from opening, the only thing that happens is the ones with guns will shoot you if they see you, and if there is an armed alien nearby and other aliens can see you, they will call him over.

If the door has power (you can tell because it will emit a soft purple glow on the ground around it) and you have the upgrade to use them, then they will always open. Is there a particular spot in the map that you are running into this issue?

You are absolutely correct on both counts. I have added fullscreen support and fixed the bug that prevented you from reaching over counters. There are a few other minor things I'm going to change before I update the demo, but those changes will be in that update.

I'm expecting about 5 hours of gameplay out of the full version, but just the one level. Currently about 25% of the map is finished and accessible. Once the cutscenes and the sound effects are all done, fleshing out the map is all that's left.

Thanks! Sorry it took so long to respond, I'm bad at this website apparently.

Thanks for the comments. I'm still getting used to the layout of the site and I didn't even see them before. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I'm glad the progress has been in the right direction and that it's getting better. Gives me hope for the future.

Also, if you have suggestions you want to make (as you mentioned on a previous article) you can just make a comment, I actually know where to look for them now.

The keycard isn't in an accessible area of the map yet. There is still a way to get it, but it's difficult as it requires navigating that room in the dark so you can get to the door without it being powered up. If a door doesn't have power, you can pry it open with the right type of tool.

As for the vials, they all do something, but the effects are supposed to be ambiguous at first. Eventually there is an upgrade that teaches you what they do.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! I'm still working on a better intro/tutorial to teach the player things like running or the fact that you can set objects down, this reinforces the need for that. There is a translation device planned (and implemented) but it's not currently accessible on the map, same with the key cards for the rest of the ship.
