Unepic

Game review

I really like this game a lot. The gameplay is detailed and humorous. The graphical style is also very detailed and clean. There are a lot of things you can do with items and weapons and crafting. I also really like the interface and having the whole thing laid out on the screen at once with both the dungeon and the various menus. Also, the mechanic of lighting the dungeon as you explore is very welcome and satisfying too.
This latest update makes everything look even better than it did before. I especially like the zoom feature and the controller support and controller setup screens.
If you like metroidvania games, and humor, then I would certainly try Unepic!

The Ball

Game review

This is an awesome first person puzzle game. The puzzle and gameplay mechanics are top notch. Interesting and challenging without resorting to WTF moments when you realize there is no real way you could have figured out how to solve that puzzle.
The environments are also amazing. I loved being underground in all the old ruins. The feeling of space and size is welcome. This game could easily have become too cramped, but it didn't. I got so attached to the environment and the ball that I would sometimes just run around and look at stuff. In fact, there is even one area where the ball is trapped and I felt like I was naked because there was no other way to really interact with this world. That's how real it felt.
For all the reasons above, I think the replay value is high for at least a couple of three times.
I hope there are more puzzle games to look forward to from this company or maybe we will discover that other ancient cultures used the ball as well. If that is the case, then we must explore them!

One thing I would like to see is maybe some items? Nothing as intense as an RPG or anything. But maybe you could find things that would change an attribute of the ball or simply make it a different color. Just a thought.

I just got this a few days ago and am really impressed with it. The main reasons that I gave it a 10 rating are these:

1) Easy to learn, yet powerful in what it can do.
I have used a number of world builders dating all the way back to trying to create Doom and Heretic wads. Recently, I have also used Gary's Mod, Patterns and others. I have never used one that I felt was this easy, and yet powerful, to use.

2) Tutorial and help system is also very clearly laid out with instructions and examples that even someone like me can understand. :)

3) You can easily flip between building and playing so you can see the results of what you did right away. That's especially nice for those times when you aren't 100% sure what you want to do or how an option will affect what you are working on.

4) And, of course, it looks really good.

This is a work in progress, but it does say "Alpha Release" so no problem there.

If you are feeling creative, I would definitely give it a try.

Luminesca

Game review

I have not played the new chapter yet, only chapter 1. However, I love this game. Some of the main reasons are:

- Visually it is very pleasing and interesting. I really like the contrasting light/dark areas and how the lighting effects feel real (in a stylized way of course).

- Gameplay. To me, this is really a puzzle game and it is so nice to just float around and figure out what is going on or investigate an area that looks interesting. Nobody chasing me and I can take as long as I want since there are no time limits.

- Commitment. It is obvious to me that the author is committed to making a great game, is willing to work on it until he is satisfied and also listens to user input on any suggestions or issues.

So overall, I would say that this game is fun, interesting and very relaxing to play...all together.
