New Gameplay Video available after a long long long (way toooo long) time:
A blacksmith will create the armor/weapons from resources. If you want a soldier you need a human (at the right age),the necessary equipment (depends on which kind of soldier you need) and a barrack.
Now you have an inexperienced soldier. He will get experience by two ways:
- to train in barracks (experience limited)
- fight against a real enemy
Maybe we will split the experience in general war experience, weapon specific experience, offensive and defensive experience.
An inventory System for soldier is not plan because every swordsman (or archer, or..) will have the same inventory (e.g. sword, shield, armor).
But we really want to create a system to transform soldiers (e.g. change a swordsman to an archer).
The graphics in the trailer are ingame. This is how the game looks at the moment. It should give you a idea of the style of the game. We definitely want to add more details to the world (e.g. gras, mushrooms, more textures on the map, more animals, more plants) but we also want to keep the game playable at normal computers.
Probably the game will never look like a AAA title but we try to come as close as possible.
At the moment we do not have a full concept for military. We are playing with some ideas:
- probably we have guards (associated to a building like tower or barracks) and soldiers (not associated)
- guard/soldier is a profession, that means people has to learn it
- guard/soldier have needs (like food)
- you can group soldiers (in different levels)
- there will be different kind of soldiers (e.g. sword or bow)
We are very open for every new idea about this topic and we want to discuss different possibilities.
Trading is one of the cornerstones of the game. You can trade with your own villages, villages of other players and villages of npc.
Several game mechanism even force trading:
1. Villages are limited to regions and can not grow unlimited. The outcome of this is that one village can not produce all kinds of goods. So you have to build more than one village.
2. Between Villages has to be at least one a free region. So you need to build trade routes between villages.
I suppose we also integrate ships and boats but not in the alpha release.
Drotin is definitely the game you are looking for. You will start with a bunch of people, found a small village out of tents, and extend it to a nice medieval city.
About professions:
At the moment we have different professions (woodcutter, gatherer, butcher and many more). We are currently working at an experience system. That means the more they work the better they are. At the moment we are also thinking about a master-trainee system.
thx. There will be an alpha version and probably also a beta version. We never talked about a demo in the dev team. If we decide to make a demo it will be after the alpha release.
The roadmap for the alpha version is done. This roadmap is not static and we are planning to do a survey to add some community features.
Thx. We hope to present a trailer in the next 2 weeks. The trailer shows some gameplay features and introduces the game.
Thx for the good wishes.
As soon as we decide to make a test session we will annonce it.

We try to generate quiet big maps. At the moment our normal maps are 1 square kilometers. The hugh maps are about 4 square kilometers. All other objects (people, trees, buildings) has normal world size.
