I'm afraid a change that invasive would require very extensive modification of the game's source code, and that's not available to the public.

I'd like to echo the offer to take a look at what HB is doing.
I'd also like to voice my concerns over the fact that you seem to think we're making some kind of effort to control Battlezone in some way. That is not and has never been our intention and it concerns me that you might think it is. We come from a variety of backgrounds, have a variety of skills, and feel it's necessary to provide critique and feedback to other artists in order to improve both their work and our own. Fully half of our members joined as a result of such an interaction.
That our projects cover as wide a spectrum as they do is because we thought those projects would be cool to work on. There's no grand plan; we're just a bunch of modders doing stuff we can have fun making and would want to use ourselves.
If you've got the original copy of Battle Grounds or a Battlezone Gold CD you'll find it there as backgnd3.bmp. If not, you can find it here: Battlezone.wikia.com. While there are many derivations from this image (the Strategy Guide cover and the Rise of the Black Dogs box art, for example), there is no longer any better quality version of this particular instance available - if indeed there ever was.
As a UE4 user, yes you could. I'm working with other developers on two separate projects which do exactly that. Neither quite has the charm of BZ. It's also worth remembering that UE4 requires pretty high-end hardware to run, while BZ1/BZ2 still work with PCs from the late 1990s. Besides, how are you supposed to recreate something if nobody can play the original?
I'm that guy who still plays Doom. Old games are not something to be replaced simply because they are old. The good ones are still played. The best ones are still modded too.
0:00-0:51 is Nine Inch Nails' Help Me I Am In Hell, 0:51-2:40 is a remix of Rammstein's Bück Dich, 2:40-3:00 sounds like it could be Rammstein again but I don't know for certain.
There are big things coming; watch this space!
Given that it's been so long since a proper update was made, I think it's time.
As Nielk1 has already said, our core team is spread across the corners of the globe, with one member from America (Nielk1), one Australian (Jayden) and one British (me), which makes communication difficult at best. It's near impossible for me to communicate regularly with Jayden, and it's he who is handling asset development at the moment, so I can't speak for that side.
My work, however, I can speak for. The project's narrative is going very well indeed, and it does some things that Battlezone has never seen before (underwater missions, dynamic plot, etc.). We're splitting the story up into distinct acts and at the moment are likely to release in stages, and the first act's plot is fully prepared, with a basic framework set in place for those that remain.
At the moment, however, my main focus is the song for the end credits, something else new to Battlezone.
Nine Inch Nails; Help Me I Am In Hell.
It's been quite a journey and it's good to see it released at last, in any form. However, there will hopefully be more to come. Stick around.
Good news! For those of you who don't know yet, 1.3 Public Beta 6 has been released!
Unfortunately, this has had quite an impact on the development of the Expansion Pack. A full overhaul of all assets has begun, meaning that every single file must be looked at and assessed for compatibility with the new patch.
This also coincides with a generally busy time in the lives of all of the developers. All three of us (TheJamsh, Nielk1 and myself) are busy with studies for our various subjects, meaning we get less and less time to devote to the EP.
However, progress is still grinding forwards. Few new assets have been added, though NK1 has taken upon himself the mammoth task of the audit, and I am also sorting through assets when I can.
Rest assured, however, that the project will be completed.

This isnt XMod, so try a forum. Also, its not compatible with PB5.1.
Afraid not, it's been mostly work and exams for me.
somewhere, down here in the dark...
Provided nothing breaks... I think that's a bit of a gamble, given my track record :D

Path of Borealis wasn't even from Half-Life, it was a remix of Triage at Dawn.
We're running through final testing and additions now, so it shouldn't be too long - but as modders are so fond of saying... it's done when it's done.
Think it's time to give you guys another update, been almost a month since the last one.
We are still here, we're still modding. Things are really picking up speed now.
I'll let one of the other guys fill you in on the details, I don't want to give away too much =D
