Craig,

I spent some time last week listening to an interview you gave some time ago and would like comment a view things.
People rejecting Flash games might not seem to have a clue but sometimes they have valid reasons for disliking it.
Even if Adobe AIR enables you to make your own games I can hardly see a big difference here to other frameworks.
Adobe has a bad reputation amongst those who use Linux. The discontinued support for AIR under Linux is just one example of Adobe "great" customer support for alternative operating systems. At least I (!) dislike anything which uses Flash. Be it games, websites or video content. Under Linux Flash nearly always equals big troubles. So do not devalue someone who dislikes Flash. Also as indicated Telepath RPG has horribly performance. If you would be able to achieve better performance, then please do it. Currently it simply is a PITA to play on lower spec systems. Also you do not get away by saying: Yeah, if people use slow systems, they get slow performance. My AMD E350 is perfectly capable of running much more demanding games such as Diablo II without 3D acceleration.

Not to sound too offensive but something what looks as simplistic as Telepath RPG should run fluently even on a PIII-850. Otherwise it is either using the wrong framework and/or is simply awfully designed/coded.

I just posted again to share my thoughts and let people know about the performance issues.
Esp. those with netbooks and ATOM or AMD E-350 based system should stay away from Telepath RPG.

Thanks for clarifying !
May be I have a wrong understanding but when I hear steampunk I think less about steam and tubes right in front of my face but a world similar to lets say Bioshock.
I have seen those "robots" in some pictures.
BTW:
It would be nice if you make it clearer that the game runs via Adobe Air. As I indicated the demo run awfully slow on my box :(

Wow, soooo many "positive" feedback will almost convince any developer NOT(!!!) to release on Desura :)

For those with monetary issues I suggest you come up with your own game, learn how much work it is to make content and then judge whether the price is fair or not. While stuff like Humble Bundle is nice for us as a buyer, it is still a PITA for small indy game studios.

The game offers nice drawed graphics, nicely spoken text by partially professional speakers as I understood and stuff like that. I tried the demo and it is not really my kind of game but anyway.

@SinisterDesign: Mentioning that an AdobeAir game is Linux-compatible does not really count. Adobe ceased Air for Linux almost over a year ago. You still can install it but there are no security fixes anymore. IMO it would be much nicer to use something less platform-agnostic (e.g. Java or Python).

A cross-operating system runtime (which AdobeAir essentially claims to be) which is not available on all OS sounds almost like an oxymoron to me. I can not evaluate how much easier it makes development of applications compared to other technologies though.

For future releases you should consider using more open and free technology. Adobe is definetly not the company to support if you have alternative OS in mind for your target market.

Performance of AIR (this is an AMD E350 with 2x1.6GHz and Xubuntu 11.04 x64) is VERY bad. Scrolling is really like a crawl. This system runs Xonotic, Diablo 2 (under WINE) and Dungeons of Dredmore really perfect.

P.S.: I didn t spent too many time with demo but I kinda miss the "Steampunk" aspects of the game. What do consider to be the Steampunky parts of Telepath ?

Great game....I just wish that ROTDG would be available on Desura soon, although I must admit that I bought the bundle over at steam a while ago. Nevertheless I would still buy it again here. Just support you guys and Desura as well.

@DerRidda: Thanks for clarification ! so I I will wait patiently unless they either release the Linux client or open up the beta :)

Thanks again Desura for providing Linux support.

@VALVE: In case you are reading: THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD DO WITH STEAM ALSO :P

Might be a stupid question but what is the purpose of a Linux Desura beta which tells me I am not allowed to log in since it is Beta ?
/me confused !

I am just asking because I do not understand what to test (beside that fact that I am able to start the client).

I am running x64 Ubuntu 10.04 LTS here if this matter.
