Superhero Spring 2017

CliveCNE Blog

SuperheroSpring2017Emailbanner

The world is in peril again! It seems to happen every year now. It's time for the Crusaders to pull on the spandex, give their friends or family lame excuses for leaving them suddenly, and save the world.

Super Hero Spring event runs from today through to April 3rd at Noon PDT. For those players who haven't unlocked them already, this is your chance to add both Bat Billionaire and Metal Soldierette to your roster.

Of course, as this is a 2017 update of the original event you can also collect two new Crusaders: Arachnobuddy and Foresight.

The first of the two new Tier 2 Crusaders is Arachnobuddy, a superhero imbued with superhuman spider-inspired powers. His alter ego teenager Paul Potter lives with his uncle Matt after a luchador savagely killed his aunt, Gwen.

At level 50, his ability Web Blast shoots out a web projectile at a random enemy every five seconds dealing 200% of Global DPS. Collect equipment for Arachnobuddy to increase the number of webs he fires.

At level 400, Arachnobuddy unlocks Stick Webbing where Web Blasts stuns affected targets for one second (but doesn't stack if multiple blasts hit the same target).

Foresight is a new lifeform created by melding the power of an Unlimited Stone, one of the greatest sources of power in the Crusader universe, and an indestructible material called Reverbrium.

At level 100, he unlocks Playing Favorites, an ability that heals individual targets for 20% of max health per second. It heals humans if more humans are adjacent to Foresight than non-humans, or it will heal non-humans if more non-humans are adjacent to Foresight. In the end, if there are an equal number of humans and non-humans it doesn't heal anyone. At level 400 his Supernatural ability increases Supernatural Crusaders' DPS +50%.

After you've completed the first new Tier Two objectives for Arachnobuddy and Foresight, there are three more objectives to conquer (after a few more drinks, naturally).

RevengersScreenshot

In The Revengers players can only choose Supernatural or Superhero Crusaders, plus Bush Whacker and Nate. Then they must reach area 400.

SidekicksScreenshot

In the objective, Sidekicks three bumbling sidekicks take up slots in your formation, each with a unique debuff on adjacent Crusaders as they get in the way of our heroes with their misguided attempts to help (e.g. reduce DPS, reduce Gold Find, and disable formation abilities).

SuperVilliansScreenshot

The final new Tier Two objective is Super Villains. The Crusaders' arch nemeses spawn and attack the formation. Each super villain has different annoying abilities that'll make reaching area 500 a real challenge!

Equipment for both Tier 1 and 2 Crusaders can be found in Superhero Spring Jeweled Chests. However, gear for the Tier 2 Crusaders will only appear once you've unlocked the respective Crusader.

You'll have until April 3rd at Noon PDT to complete the event. Cheers!

Crafting is a way to get specific gear for your Crusaders without having to get lucky while opening a chest. With the proper recipe and materials, you will be able to craft even the most epic gear. It's easier said than done, though, as gathering the materials and unlocking the recipe for the piece of gear you want isn't a walk in the park.

Gathering Material

Crafting Material is obtained by disenchanting duplicate gear. Previously, disenchanted gear turned into Enchantment Points for your Crusaders, which passively increased their DPS. Now, however, you will no longer get EP for duplicate gear. Instead, you'll gain a random amount of crafting material based on the rarity of the disenchanted item.

CraftingMaterials

So how do you get EP for your Crusaders? Missions! Missions that award EP have been buffed considerably in terms of award and frequency so that you can still boost the EP of your favorite Crusaders to the same degree -- possibly even more so.

Crafting material drops are not retroactive, so regardless of how much duplicate equipment you've found in the past, you'll keep the EP you earned from it and will still start your crafting stockpile from scratch just like everybody else.

Crafting Recipes

All players start with the recipes for the Common and Uncommon gear for the initial 20 Crusaders. Crafting gear outside of that limited set require that you unlock additional recipes. How do you do that? Missions! New missions will now appear en-masse to help you learn new recipes. Each successful mission will unlock one or more rare or epic recipes. A special type of recipe mission will unlock all the common and uncommon recipes for a single event Crusader, giving you a way to deck out your newly recruited event Crusaders in basic gear, even outside of the event itself. Note that recipes for event Crusaders cannot be found during the event they unlock in or within 2 weeks of an event ending. For the purposes of recipes, the Crusaders in the 21+ slots are treated like event Crusaders.

As with crafting material, recipes has not been awarded retroactively. Everyone is starting on even footing when it comes to finding the rarest of recipes.

Legendary Gear

Legendary Gear is the ultimate equipment. In addition to a massively enhanced base bonus, twice as big as the epic equivalent, each piece of Legendary Gear comes with a whole new unique Legendary Effect that could completely switch up your formation. What's more, that effect can be leveled up indefinitely as long as you've got the crafting material to do so.

Getting Legendary Gear

There are a couple of things you'll need before you can get a piece of Legendary Gear. The first is the Epic version of the item you want. Crafting will make it easier to get specific Epic loot, but in general Jeweled Chests are your primary source for Epic items.

CraftingScreenshot02 550px

The second thing you'll need is a Legendary Catalyst. Legendary Catalysts are new random drops from Jeweled Chests. They can also be obtained via rare Missions. They are consumed when you craft Legendary items. The number of Legendary Catalysts you need depend on how much Legendary Gear you're crafting at once. The first piece of gear will only take one Legendary Catalyst, but each piece of gear after that will take 66% more Catalysts, rounded to the nearest whole number. Every week after your first Legendary craft, the number of Catalysts required will decrease by 80%, to a minimum of one. Basically this is a long-winded way of saying if you want to craft more than one Legendary Item per week, it's going to cost you extra Catalysts.

But that's it! If you've got the Epic item you want to upgrade and the required number of Catalysts, you can simply click a button to upgrade your piece of Epic gear to a piece of Legendary gear, increasing its bonus and gaining access to its Legendary Effect.

Upgrading Legendary Gear

The power spike doesn't stop there. Once you have a piece of Legendary Gear you can upgrade its Legendary Effect by spending Crafting Material. You can choose to use Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Epic material, based on whatever you have lying around. The amount of material it takes increases with each level. It's worth it, however, as the Legendary Effect doubles with each Legendary Level.

Oh, About Golden Epics...

For those of you with Golden Epics, don't dismay. You won't lose the Golden benefit when you upgrade to Legendary tier. All Golden Epics can be turned into Golden Legendaries for the same cost as upgrading a normal Epic to a Legendary. In addition, if you don't have a Golden Epic and craft a Legendary in its slot, a future flash sale may offer you the Golden Legendary directly.

We're exited to see what you guys come up with now that Legendary Effects are unlockable. There are dozens of new potential formations to explore, and even the most underappreciated Crusader may have a new lease of life once they have a few Legendary items at their disposal. Happy Crusading!

Carnage Cup 2017

CliveCNE Blog

CarnageCup blogbanner

Put on your cleats, Crusaders! It's time for the Carnage Cup: the most violent, the most painful, and by the far the most exciting hand-egg ball competition in the whole universe! Recruit all four of the Carnage Cup Crusaders, including two brand new ones, as you throw, run, and kick your way to victory.

The tailgate party is underway and now the game begins starting today and running through to February 7th at Noon PST. For those players who haven't unlocked them already, this is your chance to add both Groklok and Drizzle to your roster.

Of course, as this is a 2017 update of the original event you can also collect two new Crusaders: Karl the Kicker and Cindy the Cheer-Orc.

KarltheKicker

Karl the Kicker takes up the same slot as Natalie Dragon and has some cool abilities in his kit bag. At level 50 Split the Uprights divides your DPS evenly between the front-most and back-most enemies (if there's only one enemy, it will take full normal damage; if two, each takes 50% of total DPS).

At level 400, Karl unlocks Play Of The Game where the back-most enemy takes an additional 40% damage (multiplicative; so front-most takes 50% of total DPS, back-most takes 70% of total DPS)

CindyCheerOrc

Cindy the Cheer-Orc has some cool abilities hidden in her pom-poms. At level 50, she unlocks Top of the Pyramid which will buff other Crusaders' DPS up to 25% per slot based on how far away they are from Cindy. At level 400 her Practice Makes Perfect ability increases the effect of Top of the Pyramid based on the area you've reached by 10% (multiplicative) per 50 areas.

After you've completed the first new Tier Two objectives for Karl and Cindy, there are three more objectives to keep you busy.

FlagOnPlayScreenshot

In Flag On The Play referees spawn as monsters, and when they die, they throw a flag on one of your Crusaders disabling their DPS and Formation Abilities for 30 seconds.

SponsorsScreenshot

Stand By For This Important Word From Our Sponsor introduces TV sets interminably promoting various products you absolutely have to own. When a TV dies, you get a random positive or negative effect for a few seconds (e.g. reduced global DPS, reduced gold bonus, increased global DPS, or increased gold bonus).

HalftimeScreenshot

The final new Tier Two objective is Halftime Show. A singer and several musical instruments take up space in your formation. The singer performs for 10 seconds every 10-20 seconds. Whenever the singer is singing, the deafening noise reduces your DPS by 99.99%. When she stops, your DPS returns at a rate of 5% per second.

Equipment for both Tier 1 and 2 Crusaders can be found in Carange Cup Silver and Jeweled Chests. However, gear for the Tier 2 Crusaders will only appear once you've unlocked the respective Crusader.

You'll have until February 7th at Noon PST to win the Championship and claim the Carnage Cup trophy. Go team!

RP2TierUpdate

You'll need the Tier 2 or Tier 3 talent to play them, and many, many, many idols to defeat them. We've also added a new weekend buff event to help you get started. Good luck!

Princess Pool Party 2017

Banner

Now that all of the holiday festivities are behind us, it's time to look forward to the next fun event: it's time to book a vacation to escape the January blues.

Starting today and running through to January 17th at Noon PST, The Princess is heading abroad to host her annual pool party event. For those players who haven't unlocked them already, this is your chance to add both Pilot Pam and Queen Siri to your roster.

Of course, as this is a 2017 update of the original event you can also collect two new Crusaders: Bernard the Bartender and Princess Val the Mermaid.

BernardCrusader

Bernard the Bartender shares the same slot as Detective Kaine. He includes some fun formation abilities such as Tips!. This ability has a base 20% chance that you'll receive 20% more gold from an enemy when it's killed. The chance can be increased with other upgrades and gear.

At level 400, Bernard unlocks Girl's Night where every female Crusader in the formation adds an additive 20% boost to the Tips! bonus gold.

ValCrusader

Princess Val the Mermaid also packed some fun new abilities. At level 25, she unlocks Royal Blessing. With it, all adjacent Crusaders are healed by 20% per tick, split between the number of affected Crusaders. This is boosted by other upgrades as well. At level 400 her Animal Kingdom ability increases the global DPS by +50% if there are more animal Crusaders than human Crusaders in the formation.

After you've completed the first two new Tier Two objectives for Bernard and Val, there are three more objectives to keep you busy.

MigratingScreenshot

The Great Migration sees the Crusaders beset by migrating birds determined to bring your holiday plans crashing to the ground. These fowl foul instantly kill any Crusader they hit in a puff of blood and feathers all the way to area 400.

GirlsNightScreenshot

Girl's Getaway! forces you to only select female Crusaders alongside Bernard because what kind of a holiday doesn't have alcohol, especially when there's a long way to go to area 450.

SunburntScreenshot

The final new Tier Two objective is Don't Get Sunburnt. The hot objective sees the Crusaders DPS suffer in the sun's rays. The longer the Crusaders are in the formation earning XP, the less DPS they do, making reaching area 500 quite a challenge!

Equipment for both Tier 1 and 2 Crusaders can be found in Pool Party Silver and Jeweled Chests. However, gear for the Tier 2 Crusaders will only appear once you've unlocked the respective Crusader.

You'll have until January 17th at Noon PST to complete the event before it's time to fly home and spend another year only dreaming of sunny beaches and lazy pool days.

NateChristmasEmailBanner

It's that time of year again when thoughts turn to family, presents under the Christmas tree, turkey dinners, and giant twin swords to destroy unrelenting hordes of monsters.

Today we launch The Nate Before Christmas 2016 with both the original Crusaders for new players to unlock and two new Crusaders for advanced and veteran players.

As well as the repeat event and picking up RoboSanta and Frosty the Snowman if you don't already have them, players who get through the Tier One objectives will be able to tackle the more challenging Tier Two objectives. Their reward for beating them will be two new Crusaders to add to the team in the form of The Dark Elf Helper and Robo-Rudolph.

Objectives 550px

Note: Since the new 'You've Been Naughty' objective was just added this year, players who completed this event last year will need to do it before starting the Tier Two objectives, so be sure to save up 2,500 Tokens before resetting!

This new Tier One objective will see the Crusaders beset with coal monsters. These charcoal beasts reduce your gold find to zero for as long as they are on the screen and for an additional extra second after you kill them.

For the veteran or hard-working players who have completed all the Tier One objectives, the new objectives require you to purchase the Tier Two talent Do it Again in the Talents shop.

DarkHelper

Once unlocked you can tackle the five new objectives. The first of them is 'Recruit the Dark Helper.' The Dark Helper is an elf (natch) who temporarily knocks out the front two Crusaders. For 10 seconds they'll be put to sleep and reduce their DPS and disable all their formation abilities to 1 all the way to 300.

RoboRudolph

'Recruit Robo-Rudolph' requires you escort the malfunctioning reindeer to area 300 where he will be serviced. Until you reach the workshop, he'll short circuit and debuff three random Crusaders to zero in the formation for up to 15 seconds.

Presents Screenshots

The 'Presents' objective is the equivalent of Christmas morning as you anxiously eye the wrapped boxes under the Christmas tree. Is that box a pair of socks or the brand new X-Station console? When you kill the present monsters, they'll randomly buff or debuff your Crusaders all the way to area 400. You won't know what the effect will be until you take the wrapping paper off.

LetItSnowScreenshot

The penultimate new objective is 'Let It Snow.' Drifts of snowflakes will accumulate on random slots in the formation. The drifts will get larger and will reduce the DPS of the affected Crusaders by 1% up to a maximum of 100%. If you can dig yourself out in time and complete the area the debuff is reset to zero. You're going to need a snow shovel to make it to area 400.

RoboChristmasScreenshot

The final new objective is 'Robo-Christmas.' Only robot and Christmas-y Crusaders are available for selection to beat area 500.

Equipment for both Tier 1 and 2 Crusaders can be found in Christmas Silver and Jeweled Chests, which you can earn from objectives or buy in the shop. However, gear for the Tier 2 Crusaders will only appear once you've unlocked the respective Crusader.

Once you have enough tickets, you'll have until December 27th at Noon PST to complete the event before the holidays will be done for another year.

Email Banner Amuse

Today we launch the Amusement Park of Doom, a brand new permanent campaign. It's a special campaign because it features some boss monsters that were created as a result of your very generous donations for our Extra Life event back in October. Our artists Kat and Adam have been beavering away to create the requests, and you'll find more details on them below.

ExtraLife

The Amusement Park of Doom itself is a theme park from a parallel dimension. Our bold Crusaders must explore this terror split over six objectives to start. To tackle the park, the team will need to be at their pushiest to get through the throngs of visitors to avoid the long queues for the rides.
