We are continuing to add more to the game. Such things include more buildings more functionality and a few visual improvements. Small changes may not be noticed, until further along in the game. Research and upgrades will be present in the next build. There may be only a few but they will be there none the less.

BlackHeart Studios has been undergoing some drastic changes. We have not been around to provide updates. So Consider this a quick update. For the next few days of this update BHS will be taking a few Admin days to get things in order. This is a really big push for the Company as we have casually developing in the past. We are Incorporating some new Industry Standards into the Studio to start getting a professional Mindset, while still being able to work as we have been. BlackHeart is not just another Studio, we are well aware of what happens when you take something you love and turn it into a job. The passion for it starts to fade. So over the next few days we will be establishing some new standards, and hopefully this includes all of our activity outside the studio such as indieDB, Twitter, and Facebook. Although we are still few we have big goals and are very proud to have supporting members of the community that have been volunteering.

It has been a while since i last posted to this. I just wanted to let everyone know that this game isnt Dead, it is currently on the shelf of the To-Do closet. A lot has happened. The studio has quit working on personal projects for the time being. This is true with Rise of the living. So just a brief update.

We are taking a small break from KFM So that we can focus on Trails to the West. Alot of the work that has been put into Trails to the West will be used to finish up KFM and Rise of the Living. I have added a larger piece of terrain to the current one. Giving it more Mountain ranges. Much larger in scale. Provides for different levels of adventuring on a larger single map.

I Have begun working on a Large city. The issue is making it feel medieval and not planned out like simcity. When those towns were build the were build around a central plaza area. The town walls came after the city was being built. So this could take some time but i will post screenshots as soon as i have something that looks good.

Since my demo terrain turned out really really well, I am going to start working on an Alpha Version of the terrain. The most time consuming part of this is going to be putting together the buildings. Since they are all modular, it will be one giant puzzle and making them look good wont be easy either. However, we are still trying to find a modeler that can do the buildings. Until then we will be buying assets to use. I have a picky attitude when it comes to assets.

Well, i was messing around with scaling for cliffs and stuff so to give you an idea of terrain size, im gonna surprise you with a screen shot. the detail work on the cliffs is amazing even with scaling the objects.

Well this was the first of my demo videos to kinda give you all a feel for how the terrain is gonna be. I had placed over 400 objects manually to create some of the cliffs. I just wanted to see what would look better.

Tonight i am going to work on the Alpha Version of our Game Map. it will be rather large to begin with. We want to see what kind of performance we get from a single map. Depending on how things go, we might break it down into several Area Maps...(would make it easy for me)

Acquired two no pieces of software for character designing Mixamo "Fuse" and the free MakeHuman program, along with its blender tools to design cloths for my NPC players. This should drastically cut down on some time.

What about Setting a trigger and event based on radius, call your dialog system. So when you get close the survivor says "Hey You" then when you get closer it calls the rest of your dialog and interactions scripts.

Side note: I changed the way the duststorms are in the the sandy area. Reduced the amount of land, added collider to prevent form detering off the map.

Finished more decorations around the map. Reduced Demo Terrain size by adding an ocean view. Will be adding sample features that will be in the Alpha for testing purposes and feed back. Current version is the Terrain Concept Demo. Currently no game Mechanics are not available in the Demo as it is an Exploration Type.

Just Retextured the cliff sides and mountains for more blended and realistic appearance. Setting triggers for game music based on the environment.

I will be continuously adding new screenshots as i progress in my terrain design for the game. I am also working on the dialog for a few of the terrain event areas. The dialog will give you details that will be found in later in the game. hints and clues about areas that you will explore when the new terrains are created.
