Hey Space Goat,

At the moment we are full speed ahead with gamebooks only (and if you saw our twelve days of gamebooks posts on the blog then you know there are 6 more orlandes books slated for this year) and personally I would love to do a more dungeon-crawly CRPG based on the Orlandes world but it would definitely not be in 2013 :-)

Cheers!
Ben Britten

Hey Nyogtha,

At this point we don't have the licensing rights for a desktop version. Given the current desktop sales we probably cant afford to do a desktop version either. But anything is possible :-)

It is actually on sale on amazon as well. It is just that the amazon dev portal doesn't have any notion of 'on sale' so all I can do is set the price and change the description a bit, but even then the amazon guys don't always publish it correctly, so I really have very little control over what our games show up as on amazon. They both have the same base price.

The Orlandes series of books are all written for us by various authors. There are no paper version as of yet.

They are coming out quite quickly because they have been out on other platforms for a few years now and we have a backlog that we are trying to get through. At the moment we have ten books total, tho by the time we get caught up on desktop we should have a few more. And after that we hope to release each new book on all platforms fairly simultaneously. Our new books are a combination of older books and newly written books, but each book is pretty much written by a new Author, (although we have a couple sequels coming up that are written by the original authors and those are really cool)

In terms of content, the Orlandes books tend to be three to six times as long as 'classic' paper gamebooks. (fighting fantasy, lone wolf, grail quest etc) Since they are digital, there is no print limitation on length, so we tell the authors to make it as long as they need to be to be compelling and to make sure that all of the side stories and branches are also fun and interesting in some way. We also tried to stay away from the 'one true path' design that some of the classic paper books have where there is really only one way through the story. The Orlandes series all have a handful of different paths, so that you can play through a couple of times and have different experiences.

I hope that answers your question! If not, let me know!
Cheers!
Ben

Thanks Gaflec! We are racing to get them them all on Desura. GA3 should be out very soon. Amazon has GA 1 - 5 and GA6 will be out there in another week or so.

Yes! GA1 and GA2 (and soon GA7) are in french on the app store. We are working on getting the multi-language support ported to the Unity engine (ie android and PC/Mac) It will be a little while as we are a tiny team, but it will be in french eventually!

It depends on how fast you read and what choices you take, whether you have the quickdice option on and how much you go back and explore the side narratives. If you barrel through it you can get to the end in an hour or so if you are going really quickly. Most people spend between 2 and 6 hours with it.

We are definitely looking at doing a linux version. The game is built with Unity and they just announced Linux support in the next version, so give us a few months and there will be a Linux version :-)

Just as a note: you can turn the music and sound effects off in the options menu (either from the main menu, or by hitting the gear in-book)

Yeah, sorry about that! I am a desura-release noob and I originally uploaded the wrong video (was just the credits cutscene, no gameplay) and then when I realized I deleted it and then only after that I noticed that it messed up this news thing, and then I tried to fix it, and well, long story short, make sure that you upload the right video first :-)

Yeah, we have talked about it. This is our first foray into the desktop world, away from mobile platforms. We are hopeful that it will do well on the bigger screen, and if that is the case then we will start to look at other platforms like XBLIG etc.

New video with a bit more gameplay. Still not a heap, but it gives you a better idea. I will try to do a proper gameplay video soon!

To be honest, it is probably because this is our first desura release. I will look into making a demo available :-)

We will be bringing all of the Gamebook Adventures to Desktop just as quickly as we can. Either follow us here on Desura, or sign up for our newsletter: Tinmangames.com.au to keep up to date! (or both!)
