xlive.dll is only for live multiplayer. All I can think of is something with the firewall not allowing something or ports not working correctly. I don;t know how familiar you are with packet capturing (like WireShark) to see if connections are being bade/received on both sides for the game.

We had to modify certain game files by replacing those icon files with transparent ones. It does make it terribly difficult to aim, but for Windows there are third party apps that paint a crosshair on the center of your screen that does not show on screen captures.

In the game the AI does have unlimited stocks of planes and ships, however for the skirmish missions we scripted new functions that give the AI the exact same number of each unit as the human player did in the corresponding multiplayer slot. It doesn't easily happen, but the AI does run out of planes. As for difficulty unfortunately in that mode the skill is locked. We can look at making it so that you can set different variants of the mod with different skill ceilings. For now you are basically going to fight against an AI that is almost as good as a veteran player.

I understand what you're saying. It is a bit of a tricky setup. In Skirmish we tried to program the AI to set up a decent fight like a human player would. We tried to get it as close as is possible. Don;t think you are playing against the regular AI. You'll see its fighters already engage you way out rather than when you are on top of the carrier/airfield. As for the AA, we did give the ships varying levels of skill, but mostly in Veteran and Elite. You'll need to attack from the sides with least AA and attack in big waves. It's a completely different playing field.

I'm assuming you are playing in Skirmish. There we scripted the AI to put up more of a fight so it actually sets water, weapon and fire repair on ships - just like a human player would. This is how it will be in multiplayer.

Extract this zip file anywhere. It will extract installer.exe and files.zip. Just run installer.exe as it will automatically extract the files from files.zip and place them in the correct location.

That will entail importing a new model which is a massive job. The Brooklyn was already available so... The Early Mogami was added as a counterpart to the Brooklyn and not vice-versa.

The smoke (and any other effects) were unchanged in the game. I am assuming you are referring to the additional effects we added to some missions.

Browse to your game directory and then to scripts\missions\ijn\ESMP for the Japanese missions and scripts\missions\usn\LOMP for the US missions.

Here you need to open the corresponding .lua file (preferably using a program called Notepad++) and delete any lines beginning with Effect(

You can then save the file and the additional effects for that mission will be removed.

Hi there. I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can.
1) This is as intended. The missions are meant to be more challenging and and damage inflicted should not "disappear" over time. Battlestations Midway had this as the default.

2) The ships do not have a lot of AA so you have to be very tactical in the layout of your ship formation to give the best concentration of AA - after all - these ships were really sunk in the real world. The "ineffective" AA could stem from some rounds accidentally hitting your own ships.

3) The ship overlay is there, but at a reduced range. The Japanese had to rely on optics whilst the US had radar to direct their gunnery. You have to clode in on the US ships in order to get accurate targeting.

Well the fleets do take different paths each time the map is played so you might not always find them in the same place.

The Let's Play looks great! I'll check those videos out. Best way to spot bugs!

They were historically bombed during the Battle of the Sibuyan Sea. The Musashi was sunk, hence she is not present during Leyte Gulf (Battle off Samar)

Download the zip, extract it anywhere, then run setup.exe. It will prompt you to locate the folder where you currently have 4.0 installed. The installer will validate the folder and if all is fine, you will see the install option come up.

If you have 4.0 then go ahead. If you have PRCP, the patch should be out soon. It just takes a lot of work to go through each game file and comparing the different versions so we can merge the changes.
