Thank you very much for suggestion. This bugged me a lot in the past.
To let sockets be or to remove them completely?

I definitely want to have weapon modifications, but in form of horadric recipes, instead of putting gems into equipment visually. But I don't want to abandon the idea of gems completely.

About the shields, that's great idea. Actually, the tower shield tainted with black color reminds me riot shield. Will do, sir!

I would love to release at least playable demo, and then add other content, if the mod gains enough interest to work on in future.

I feel you. I hope that combination of those two will be alright. Considering the variability of equipment (stalker) and fast action (doom). I can't completely change the engine for either former or latter.

by default it runs with it's own launcher, but I believe it is/will be possible to run with d2se

Guys, the UI is being worked on and it's got new feel. It looks like ol' Hack&Slash; but still with modern touch.

I have an idea of pre-made items with specific properties (something like unique items, which would make them situational specific and different), or let the items drop with random properties (just like in the old FoM?

I'd like to know your opinion on this.

The more I am trying to use doom resources, the more Im starting to hate this decision.

I have changed the interface with inventory about 5 times, every time trying to make it smaller and smaller, to not mess up the imported images pixel size.

I will make a feedback forum for this. very soon.
