I tried this last thursday or friday: didn't work for me in Canada.

yea didn't work for me either, tried to get Beyond Good and Evil which was only $10 so it would've been free.

If you want Beyond Good and Evil, you're better off waiting for GOG to have it on sale.
I got it for around $4 I think the last time it was discounted, it's not as cheap as steam but it's fixed up for modern systems and drm-free, so worth it in my opinion,
especially considering how good of a game it is.
Even if you had gotten the game free from ubisoft, there's no guarantee it would have run correctly given its age.
