I saw the announcement for this game on another blog (don't remember which) and I bought it almost immediately. I loved the fact that everything is random and that it's a dungeon crawler in the old 90's style. Personally, I'm a big fan of the old-school graphics, it really evokes the games of my youth, mainly Skullkeep, which was one of my favorites.

I've put some time into it tonight, and while I haven't gotten far, I have a lot of experience with dungeon crawlers and wanted to offer some initial feedback.

- What made this an instant purchase for me was the focus on random generation and a new experience each time. This really seems to be a "pure" dungeon crawler, in the spirit of Dungeon Hack, which is a great thing!
- I love the ambient "dungeon noises" in the background in lieu of music. It really sets the mood. It should change and vary some from level to level, though, so it doesn't get monotonous or lose its effect.
- The game is difficult, which is good. Like a real dungeon crawler should be.
- The controls are hard to get used to. Rather than right and left rotating you, they move you around corners. I haven't yet played a game that has used a control scheme like this, and it's confusing.
- It would be cool if there was a minimap, or a map overlay that didn't darken the screen.
- I'm hoping to see different walls and dungeon styles plus lots more enemy variety as I progress deeper in the dungeon.
- Some sort of spell or item to see enemy HP would be a nice touch. Not knowing an enemy's HP adds to the mystery, but it would make sense to have a spell or item that could make that possible.
- I have no problem with the UI. I checked out the French forums and it seemed lots of people were complaining about it, but it seems fine to me. I don't know what it will be like when I acquire lots of items, though. And the items need names.

In conclusion, I really like Vorlies, and think I'll be playing it a lot. Mostly, though, I'm looking forward to how it improves over time. I think it is great as-is, even with the strange controls , but will hopefully continue to get better, too.

Just tried out the game and I aggree with most of what Stinky_Whizzleteats wrote. I love randomly generated content and creepy dungeon crawling. This game succeeds on both. What I also want to emphasize is the fact, that most items have positiv AND negative effects on you. That's pretty cool, because equipment management and the choices the player has to make get much more interesting than just "+2 is better than +1".

The controls take quite some time to get used to, though. It really would have been better to just use the good old "turn left", "turn right", "forward", "backward" principle. But I guess it would be too much work to add that now.

On one of my first tries I ran into a problem and took a screenshot of it: I.imgur.com
I explored every corner of the first floor... at least I hope so? So how do I get down to the second floor?!

Thank you for your feedback!

For your problem out, it happens to some players, it's not a bug it's just that sometimesthe output is difficult to see.

For example it is:

It is a matter of habit to see the unexplored places: p

Excuse me for my English aproximatif and good game!

Yeah, you were absolutely right about the exit. Thank you very much! :)
I guess the problem is the way the map gets revealed. Sometimes you don't know from which direction you have previously seen some walls etc.
