Vector Versus Blender Thread - Vector Thrust

Okay, Now that I have my new computer, I can ask modding questions.

The first and major is how would I follow the tutorials on adding models if I am using blender. Though Blender is harder to use than 3dsmax, It is free, and I have used it on hawx modding.

It would be nice not to have to re learn everything on a F**k expensive program, and no I am not going to use methods on this one.

While I'm no expert on either coding or 3D modelling, there is a method to convert 3D models in Blender to the Ogre 3D engine. Perhaps these could come in some handy.

Open source modeling/rendering program meets open source engine?

I saw those, but most of them are for older versions of blender.

Is there a particular version that's good for making planes with the appropriate level of detail? I usually use MAX but if I can do all the same things in blender I'd rather use that (although I don't remember the UV mapping controls being very good)

I don't have the money for 3dsman, and I rather not use Methods.

if you're still in school go get a student license. It doesn't matter what you're majoring in, I'm a business major and I still got mine.

EDIT: You can also get OEM versions pretty cheaply but I'm not sure about the legality (I think someone told me as long as you don't do commercial work with it you should be fine)

I'm not in school at the moment. It's a little annoying.

The newest version of blender apparently has an inset tool. Anyone know how to UV map complex shapes well?
