Valley of Decay is a 2D pixel-art multi-player Hack and Slash game. You can not only choose from many different abilities to fight against monsters in hordes or single great creatures, you can also wear strong items with passive abilities themselves, which support specific other active abilities to support many different builds and playstyles. There is also an auction house, where you can trade from self-found items extracted essences with other players. There is no currency, you can only trade with those. In addition, you can craft your own items with those essences, which you can then not only wear yourself, but they will also be contributed to the game database and other players can find your items themselves, being confronted with your signature. To top it all off, there is a leaderboard, where the best players are listed. There are no limits, no highest level, no strongest item. You can always become stronger.

Here is a little Basic Tutorial, that should compensate the lack of ingame help at the moment.

Controls:

Menu-Controls:
arrow-keys - select stuff
tab - select next entry
enter - execute selection

Ingame-Controls:
arrow-keys - move around
space - attack
space - use object
Q, W, E,R - cast your abilities
I - open/close inventory
A - open/close ability window
S - open/close stat distribution
T - open/close god power window
F1 - start/stop chatting
M - open/close big chat window
esc - menu to leave current game or end application

Inventory-Controls:
arrow-keys - move around
shift + arrow-keys - move highlighted item around
delete - destroy item
enter - select item
esc - cancel item selection
I - close inventory

Ability-Window-Controls:
left and right arrow-keys - select slotmachine or view abilities (this does not change any combinations)
up and down arrow-keys - having slotmachine selected, it selects a row or column
enter - WARNING, this does actually move the selected row/column into the direction the arrow points

Useful Information:

The Grid:
You can create or join games in Valley of Decay. One game is always running and allows more than 4 players: The Grid.
The Grid is a meeting point for players. They can become friends here and they can chat with each other.
The Grid also provides a highscore table, your personal stash and the legendary auction house.

Game-Mechanics:
You can not only have abilities, which you can cast. Some items will have item-abilities, that enhance abilities you currently use.
The hard thing is, that these item-abilities are only shown with theit names on an item as a stat of the item.
If you want to know what these item-abilities do, you have to click labels ingame. They reveal their powers.

You can also find "raw" items, which are white and do not have any stats on them. These item can be imbued with stats from other items.
How do you get those stats from other items? You select them with enter in your inventory and hit "extract". This extracts a random stats into
a single essence. These essences is all what this game is about. You can trade them in the auction house too!
Mind, that a raw item of, for example, level 4 can only use essences of level 4 or lower and that particular item types can only use specific essence types.

Every 50 levels you get a god power point. These are very powerful. What each godpower does, will be revealed, when you kill an ancient guardian.
