TripleA is a free turn based strategy game and board game, similar to Risk, or Axis & Allies. Known for its multiplayer on the online lobby, it also allows Play-By-Email and network (LAN) play, as well as single player vs AI or hotseat. It has over 100 games and maps that can be downloaded from the user community. It is open source, needing only Java 5 to run (can run on Windows, Mac, Linux, etc). Supports savegames, encrypted dice gen, low luck, and other options. Recreate World War 2 with the Axis pushing through to Moscow and Japan devouring the Pacific, or recreate Napoleon's march across Europe, or Rome defeating the Carthaginian Empire, or even Sauron conquering Middle Earth, or Zombies taking over America! If you have ever played a game where you push little plastic/virtual pieces around, roll dice, conquer the lands of your enemy, & produce new pieces to conquer with, you will be able to jump right into TripleA!
An update on all the development work that has been going on over the last 8 months: a new stable version is being prepped for release! TripleA is back and better than ever, with hundreds of new features for map and game makers.

It has been about 8 months since TripleA version 18.104.22.168 was released, culminating a year long effort by me and the other devs.
Now, by the end of April, I expect to release the next stable version of TripleA, version 22.214.171.124.
The main focus behind our work for this release is to bring 3 new games to the community. All three are based on World War 2, starting in year 1940, just as Germany is about to invade France. They are:
World War II Pacific (pacific theater only)
World War II Europe (european theater only)
World War II Global (the entire world)
Due to size of each of these maps, they will not ship with the TripleA engine, but will be available for download separately, by use of the "Download Maps" feature on the main screen of TripleA.
In order to have these new maps work properly, with all their special rules and flavor, we have had to implement many new features inside of the TripleA game engine:
Most of the changes will be invisible to the user unless they are playing on one of the new maps. These changes simply allow a correctly configured map file to allow these things, it doesn't mean that older maps will have these features. Therefore we highly recommend trying out the new maps!
A few of the older maps have been updated to take advantage of these new features. Namely, "Napoleonic Empires: FFA" has been updated to use the new political engine. You can now play an 8 person game on it, making and breaking alliances until you are the dominant power of 1800-1840 Europe! (This map does come with TripleA.)
