The World of C'wbiau is a 2D platformer game where the player controls the king of the C'wbiau, a cube-like species living in another dimension. Not long ago the world was encircled by the Darkness, its forces destroying everything in their path...

Report RSS Finally treading out of the darkness and into the light!

The World of C'wbiau has now managed to fight its way through the darkness within my computer and has finally reached the door leading into the bright light of the Internet. Finding itself a name to wear The World of C'wbiau is now slowly its first few steps in this bright new world.

So, for the first time ever, I am posting a game on the internet. The World of C'wbiau is acctually my second graphical game project, but before it lies a great lot of time in learning programming. As a few examples of previous works by me (non of which are published anywhere) are a few text-based games, a calculator and a dictionary app (console-based). Now let us move on to talking about C'wbiau.

Mostly I've simply called this project "Cube" as that is what the game really is all about. Though I did not find "Cube" to be interesting enough as a final name, so I ransacked my brain and made up a new one. Those who know the Welsh language will probably find C'wbiau familiar, which is because that name is pretty much identical to "ciwbiau", the Welsh word for "cubes".

So, above are two screenshots which show the current state of The World of C'wbiau. As I'm currently focusing on making a working and efficient engine for the game there are currently only four types of tiles (using about 20 different textures) and one type of enemy, but these numbers will grow when I feel that my code is ready for it. The reason for not adding tons of tiles (like wood and concrete) and enemies is because it would mean a lot for me to change if I happen to find another way to make my code even more efficient.

When do you think there will be a downloadable version?

I'm not entirely sure about that, there are a few things I would want to finish before that could happen, as well as adding additional tiles and enemies.
Though I will release a downloadable alpha, don't worry about that.
