Check it out, we’ve captured the first few minutes of the game, including a first look at our brand new menu!
There is not much actual gameplay in the video, but it is a good representation of the mood of the game, and for those of you who have been following us for a long time, it shows the kind of changes and additions we’ve made to the game over the last few months.
We got the build-in tutorial and help system for example. You can make the Ball transparent nowadays (and we are working on a new effect for that!). And we’ve added and changes several parts of the first few rooms to make sure that they are as easy to understand as possible. An example of that is the weapon cave. As it was first you entered the cave, walked up a ramp, and then you had to turn around 180 degrees to pick up the weapon. That was very counter intuitive. So we have fixed that, and we have made sure that the place really feels as it is comes alive once you pick up the weapon. Another example is the Ball room. We first had a tiny little corridor out of that room but we during tests we noticed that people who are new to the game had a lot of trouble getting the Ball to fit into the tiny corridor. So we’ve widened it up a lot.
And just this week we’ve began adding, for lack of a better name, "door frames with lamps". When you complete a room, the door frame around the exit will light up and allow the player to quickly spot where he has to go.
Next week we will have a more action packed video for you, and we will kick off a new weekly event:"Developer Friday"!
Wow, really nice! Though one thing: Is it just me, or does the player seem really low to the ground?
That was really, really cool. Just one thing; I'm not really into the voice acting at the beginning. Tt kinda sounds like he's talking to a mentally retarded person. It's not horrible, just a little... not perfect.
A++ stuff here.
Gameplay looks much better than in mod IMO (I personally really disliked ball physics in a mod), art is of course top notch - as always! Good work.
lots of potential, the sounds could use more tlc
those footsteps are driving me nuts, I can't imagine playing this for more than a minute without becoming aggravated and annoyed, which is a shame because everything else looks wonderful. Aside from that, really enjoying the atmosphere and the creative design behind the game.
We will make the footsteps a bit more subtle then :)
When you make him fall, perhaps you'd want to make it more realistic. It feels like a toy falling soundlessly from the table.
