Tenshu General is a casual strategy game with a board game look and feel. Set in the time of the samurai in early Japan, players control a Tenshu castle from where they rule their land. Moving their armies from province to province they try to close in on the enemy’s Tenshu and destroy it. Tenshu General mixes traditional Risk and Stratego elements with RTS mechanics, in which the player has to define a strategy based on deduction and tactical skills. She can play against human like opponents which can have different characters and play style such as opportunistic, defensive, casual or Gung-Ho.

News

Play and share your own maps
Using the same editor as the game developers, you will be able to create new challenges for yourself and your friends. We will open up a topic on the forum to share your maps with everybody.

Stand alone map editor
There will be an online manual how to develop your maps with a stand alone editor. Some of the original maps will made available as examples so you can play around with them. The tooling will be released in several parts:

  • The basic editor: the open source drawing tool InkScape
  • An online manual: describing the process of how to create maps and what the mandatory elements of the maps are
  • A forum topic dedicated to the custom build maps.
  • A validation tool: validating the playability of the maps.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to hearing who the composer is! Anyway, thanks again, and I appreciate it!

P.S. - Your name sounds Dutch, do you by chance live in NL? I live half of the time in a tiny town called Haarkstee (most Dutch people know it as Harkstede, but in Gronings we say it differently), and half of the time in California, USA.

That's right, Casper and I (Joost), who form SmartArt Game Studio are actually based in Groningen!

Seriously? Groningen is only 20 minutes away from Haarkstee; I didn't realize that you lived that close! During the part of the year that I'm in the Netherlands, I actually go in to Groningen for business almost everyday (it truly is a beautiful city!).

Anyway, thanks again for looking up the composer, and I'll go check that website out...

Dag!

Solid game in all aspects... online multiplayer would make this much better though.

More maps are coming soon! Did you notice that the current maps are mostly assymetrical? That means choosing another starting location makes the play experience different.

Love the game, especially the cartoony graphics(!), which is not very common for turn-based strategy games.

I do have a quick question though, and that is that the soundtrack is FANTASTIC! Do you have a way that I can obtain/buy it? That would be greatly appreciated!

As the graphics designer of this game, thank you for the compliment! The graphics were specifically designed to be both entertaining but also functional with a clear style.

We bought the music from a 3rd party, it is available commercially. I'll look up the composer for you.

The title track of the game is available through audiojungle.net. The name is 'Japan Koto 01' and the composer is 'Buzzrec'.
