However, this, to me, breaks up the action and slows things down. Having constant ricochets makes the pace quite a bit more intense.
Yup definitely. Eventually the goalie will defend goalie's crease, and knock back players who get too close too, to prevent too much crowding around it and players shooting from absolute point blank range.
