Hi IndieDBers!

Thought I would put a quick post up about the game we have been working on. We're about 1 year into development, though much of that time has been spent recruiting, designing, prototyping, and getting concepts together.

Subnet is a first person game that focusses on parkour, stealth, and hacking mechanics. It's set in England, 200 years in the future, will feature futuristic technology, and will take place in two distinctly different places in the world, each with their own art style;

The downtrodden city suburbs:

And the "Crust", a futuristic, pristine and well maintained platform built high above the Suburbs:

Story

The Story follows Byron Alexis, an everyman who is a bit fed up of the oppressive environment in which he lives:

Without giving too much away, he turns to freelance hacking in order to "stick it to the man". The story covers conspiracy theories, and a number of possible futures for mankind.

Networking

One of the unique features in Subnet is the networking system. Everything is connected, and every single device can be hacked. The system I have written allows me to create complicated gameplay scenarios, and interesting level layouts.

I put a basic video together showing some of the work so far, and the current "work in progress" hacking interface. Since I did the video, the hacking interface has come along further, and our concept artists have started putting something pretty together!

Parkour

The parkour in the game was the first prototype I put together. As it stands right now, the parkour mechanics are complete, pending testing and tweaks. There are currently no plans to add more moves / features, though that may change depending on the schedule! I put a video together showing the parkour movement off a while ago:

Recruitment

We are currently looking for team members - specifically a 3D animator and an Environment Artist. There is a lot of work to do, though we have a pretty clear direction. If you are interested in a revenue share, and can dedicate your spare time to the project, then please take a thorough look through our website, and contact us via the contact form.

We are active on Twitter [also @SubnetGame], and we also maintain a devlog, if any of you are interested in following the development process.

This looks very interesting. The concept art looks great, and the cyberpunk theme seduces me.

Looking forward to see more of this.
