StarFire was created with the intention to provide a tool to explore the depths of the universe and its secrets in a playful, educational, and thought-provoking manner. In order to do so, the player must design his spacecraft in such way it fits his individual needs and play style, and most importantly, withstands the dangers that linger in the dark. As such, StarFire implements models based on science, and may also cross the border between reality and the paranormal.
I have re-implemented planets here, this time with improved internal planet construction and working physics, that means you bounce off the planets when you get too close to them. They are also in proper scale now, the cyan objects in the distance float around in the orbit of the gas planet, and are about the same size as the spacecraft.
Planets also have values for atmosphere, gravity, temperature, habitability etc. as they had before. I'm going to work on asteroids and gravity implementation next.
impressive. but here's a tip don't be too ambitous, try and get a basic game before even thinking about making something as polished as freespace 2, or other AAA games.
Thanks!
I don't think there is reason to worry. This game is sort of my playground so I'm trying out a lot of things as a way to gain experience (and trying to polish it would be just that). Dont really have the intention to make it commercial too, at least not yet :D
