Star-Twine is an abstract real-time strategy game in which you control a point of light created by a dying star. Battles unfold on sprawling three-dimensional maps as you collect energy and build structures to attack your opponent. Chill out to the atmospheric visuals and soundtrack as you plan your next move.

Demo

There is also a free demo version of Star-Twine available via IndieDB. The demo has fewer difficulty settings, only one skirmish level, and is single player only.

yeah, as I work too much I don't have time to play hardcore games anymore and for some reason these ambient indies seem to really tickle my fancy. Osmos, Eufloria and Auralux are my fav.

Demo is pretty generous too, but playing a mate is pretty cool
