Just bought the game a couple of days ago and I really enjoy it but it already crashed 2 times for me, it basically completely freezes and I have to kill the process - this usually happend well into a mission and is very frustrating, is there any way I can provide any logs? I have Win 7 64 bit , 8 GB RAM and a Radeon HD 5870 playing at 1680x1050, if that helps.

Hello, sorry to hear about that. We will start looking for the solution to this issue. Thanks for the information on your system specs, that should help us. Could you provide us some additional info on the game as well?

  • Are you playing through the Desura client or using the standalone version of the game.
  • If you are using the Desura client, could you try verifying your install files via Desura by right clicking the game and selecting Verify Files
  • Is there a file in the Error Logs folder where the game executable is located? If so could you post that here?

To start, this sounds similar to an issue that crept up during development. It seemed to be a bug in Microsofts XNA engine that had never been fixed that exists in other released games that use XNA. We had added a work around that seemed to fix the hangs we had run into for it but, we can try some additional things for you.

The code we added disabled a visual themes feature on Windows 7 and up to get around this hang but, it's quite possible your system is ignoring that request. I would suggest finding the Spoids.exe file and opening the properties for it. Go to the compatibility tab and check "Disable Visual Themes". If you want to try a step further, you can have the game run in Windows XP compatibility mode as well. Let us know if that fixes your problem. In the mean time we will keep looking into this XNA hang bug and see if we can find a more permanent solution for your issue.

Hi ratadero,

I'm playing through the Desura Client only, just verified the install files and nothing popped up. The ErrorLogs folder is empty.

I'll try that compatibility setting and keep you posted how it goes. Appreciate the quick help.

So far so good, just played 3 missions without any problem, that "Disable Visual Themes" seems to work. If you don't hear back from me that means it is not crashing anymore ;)
