To understand what RuinValor is you must first gain knowledge of how it came to be. The roots of my desire to make video games can be traced back to Neverwinter Nights; while the singleplayer certainly leaves something to be desired the multiplayer was the jewel amongst the stone in my mind. Packed with a toolset editor, the ability to create, modify, and share worlds of your own is what interested me the most. Couple that with an in game Dungeon Master mode to enhance story telling for the hosts player base and what you obtain is a powerful set of tools that assist in maintaining interest in a game long after its initial release. I have long believed that if you put the proper tools in the hands of the people who make content ( modders and such ) the life of the game can be infinitely extended. game. Throughout the design process I have ensured the core concept for all systems put in place rely on the single factor of customization.

The following is a list of Playable Races:

  • Gorgane ( massive beasts who are made of rock/skin. )
  • Egosdian ( elven type of creatures who are considered to be Saldarines' prize creation )
  • Dwarf ( the first race upon the lands of Valor )
  • Human ( mutations of the Egosdian outcast family )

Possible playable races after launch:

  • Halfling ( mutation of humans )
  • Demorian ( mutation of Egosdian and spiders )

So, if the game requires accounts (emails) to play, do I have to make another account in order to play another race? For example, I chose to play as the Gorgane, yet after a while I want to play as the Dwarf, do I require a new account or I shall be able to pick another character slot?

Servers will have a choice at how many character slots there will be. Some servers may only allow you one, while others may allow you 8. This is 100% up to the server hoster. Your account will be stored on our servers so there will be some things that are 100% account based but characters that transfer from server to server is unlikely. ( although if this is a feature the community desires we will make it happen )

Awesome! So now I don't need to be worry if I mess my character up, thinking I'd have to go through all the new e-mail account registration then to the game registration and re-create my character and so on. So are you planning on adding more races on the monthly updates? Like Elves or Orcs/Goblins? Oh, don't add those 3 races I mentioned, because this needs to be special, not World of Warcraft 2. Maybe think of another type of race with a unique name?

At some point we might add races. For the start of the game and for the better part of the first year of its development we will only have the 4. In theory, if a mod team wanted to make their own playable race it would be easy to do... so you might see something like that within the first few months of release from the mods. This means servers could have their own race. Furthermore, you can modify existing races via an XML file so anybody who knows how to type can more or less make their own race. I look forward to seeing what people will come up with.

Wow... nice!! I'm sticking with the Gorgane :D
Unless if they create an epic race then, maybe I'll go with that. But thats awesome! Being able to create your own races and modify the existing race. I guess some messed up models will be created soon then lol
But to be honest, this is just like Spore! :3
