Known Bugs Thread - Metagolf

When launching the game under Windows a black window appear with this error :

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Why is this happening ? This is because a few folders are now protected under Windows Vista/Seven and because Metagolf need to updates a few configuration files while running but do not have Administrator privilege to do it.

• Solution A : Update your graphic driver ! This is more than recommended.
• Solution B : Try to run the game As Administrator Locate the Metagolf shortcut icon (either on your Desktop or Start menu) Right-Click on the program’s icon and select “Run As Administrator”
• Solution C : Try to install the game on another folder, for example under C:/Your User Name/Metagolf/

When launching the game under Linux I get this error (or just nothing on rare occasion) :

Assertion 's' failed at pulse/simple.c:255, function pa_simple_free(). Aborting.

Why is this happening ? Metagolf is using the PulseAudio Drivers and this error probably means that you don't have that audio driver on your Linux Distribution.

• Solution A : Install the PulseAudio Driver (recommended solution) Open a Terminal console and type : sudo apt-get install pulseaudio
• Solution B : If you don't want to install the PulseAudio Drivers, you may eventually run a second executable version of the game (next to the default one) named "Metagolf-ALSA_support". Please note that the ALSA support is experimental, audio quality may vary depending on your system.
• Solution C : There is an xml configuration file inside the data folder of the game itself called "config.xml". By opening it with a text editor you will find this line : Try to change the switchAudioDriver value with the following value : 0 - For the OpenAl driver. 1 - For the PulseAudio driver. 2 - In last resort, will turn off the Audio support. Remember that the currently provided solution is not perfect.

The main character refuse to shoot and keep flashing all the time : Why is this happening ? On some older graphic cards (e.g. ATI Radeon) the OpenGL driver have isn't correctly supported and can lead to various glitch.

• Solution A : Update your graphic drivers to the last version will fix this problem. Whenever you encounter a bug in a game, first always try to update your graphic drivers.
