Hey, I was just wondering but is there a reason why Strafing wasn't added to controls A & D? I just thought it a bit strange that to loop left or right you press A or D twice. Why not add a strafe left and right by holding down A or D then to roll left or right by pressing either one twice. I think it would add a lot more to the entertainment of the flight controls if strafing was added.

I enjoy the game so much but honestly combat does feel a bit stiff. I just feel that in space games like this that is so close to a freelancer but had very pretty graphics and one hell of a nice item system.. I love the Diablo random item system btw It was truly an amazing idea to add it in a space rpg/sim.

I am pretty sure i'm not the only one that feels this way. But I figured i'd bring it up to see if maybe there is a good reason why it wasn't added cause I would LOVE it if you did!!! : )

It's something we've considered, but it makes it not feel very space-sim-like since it's an FPS-style element. I'm curious as to what others would say though, if we get some poll answers.

Hmmm strafe is not i need to have, since a lot space sim games i played didn't have it. But there is one thing i miss. Afterburner. When you need quick more power for avoid collision or to come closer to enemy,

Like in freelancer, you have cruise engine (similar to the one you have already) to fast travel through system and afterburner for battles.

Ahhh .. one more thing.

Can You think about targeting ?? I mean when we hit Tab, we need sometimes run through all ships in system to target enemy we want. Maby there is a option to make something like cykle through enemys only ? Maby let "tab" key cykle through all, and maby "H" or something. only through enemy ships.
And option to target ship before us.

And sry for my bad english.

@Baxianus Pressing F I believe, lets you target the enemy in your crosshairs immediately, instead of having to tab through all the targets.

We had afterburners at one point, but the problem was that you could just always evade missiles, and there was no way to balance it. Missiles in Dawnstar are slow and weak usually, more for keeping you off an enemy's butt. You can use cruise engines to evade and and get distance quickly, just can't fight with it active.

Actually I think a strafe option might be nice. Makes avoiding laser fire a bit more manageable when you are having to flight straight toward something. Considering how much the flight feels like freelancer as it is, might want to model it off that.

It will be added in the next build. If everyone hates it can always remove it in the next. =P

Well that's great news Wraith! I really appreciate that you took it into accord and going to build it into the game. I really believe it will help out a lot on the feel of the controls. I really wanna thank you for listening to what the community wants and issues they may have. I can't wait for the next build to see what you guys do with it i'm very excited!

*** I just wanted to say thanks again for adding the strafing in the last patch. I feel that it does do the game justice and had improved the flight controls alot! I've enjoyed trying out different things with flight, like reverse thrusters while strafing left or right has helped out a lot dodging. Also added a lot more enjoyment to me being able to strafe and roll around objects in space. I really appreciate that you took in the idea and i'm sure many others too and implemented it in your game. Thanks! ***
