For the recent #cyberpunkjam , I put together Cyberspace Platform. It's a 3D Platformer set in Cyberspace...
The Cyberpunk jam had a secondary theme, which was 'height', inspired by this image that was voted on:
I happened to also vote for this theme, as I found it visually striking. However, when the jam begun I hadn't yet come up with an idea, but I knew I wanted to do a 3D game and I wanted to focus on the sensation of height.
Although it would have been excellent to use cityscapes for the level design, I felt it would have been pushing it too far for me to put together the art assets to produce a respectable cityscape.
Unlike what I did with Fear Bird, I decided to focus on polishing the game and providing a solid GUI and hints to the player. To that end, I made use of a GUI framework I had begun putting together shortly before #cyberpunkjam. There are still bugs in the framework, however while making use of it in this game, I was able to add features and correct some bugs, which will help when I go back to implement the GUI in Fear Bird.
I will be looking towards adding more levels to complete, with greater variety and the in-game hinted at enemies. In particular, I would like to add more 'falling' challenges, as I feel that is where Cyberspace Platform excels.
