Today, Jan 11th, 2024, CounterAttack: Uprising is finally available on the Epic Games Store with a 40% launch discount!

The Epic Games Store release is cross-compatible with the existing Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Xbox, and Steam versions. It's launching with 24 achievements and a 40% discount, which is the largest launch discount we've done to date! Can't use the Epic Games Store? Don't worry! We will be running similar sales on other platforms in the near future.

Update 1.1.4 brings several improvements and fixes

Fixes
Regen Defiance Shield
-Added missing adj text on English localization
-Fixed it not working at all
Fixed some offscreen text on the level editor
Fixed Nova Cannon not spawning death projectiles
Fixed issue with Missile Destroyer's missiles tweaking out
Fixed some background effects not showing up on lower quality settings
Capital Ships now correctly save with game saves
-Only new saves will have capital ships, old saves were never saving them
Fixed Missile Destroyer from Destroyers not carrying over between levels
Fixed some UI buttons displaying incorrectly
Added missing localization to the key binding editor

Increased bonus points from bosses on Hard/Very Hard difficulties
Increased size of Unit Count box on Custom Level Editor
Fixed some enemies that would go through the ground on Mining Outpost

There are a few issues that didn't get addressed with this update that will be handled in 1.1.5.

We've also started looking into localization and have made a bit of progress to that end. CounterAttack has a lot more dialog and writing than some might expect- each level has intro dialog for each character, and sometimes NPCs, as well as multiple ending dialog - depending how well you do. This means it will take some time, and it makes future development slower since we need to maintain complete localization as we go.

One issue that we hope to solve in 1.1.5 is finding online games. CounterAttack uses Photon Unity Networking for multiplayer games. PUN is sharded into regions, and players in each region cannot interact with players in another region without first disconnecting and reconnecting to the other region. On Steam we allowed cross-region joins by using the Steam API to create and find games. This worked great until we started releasing on other platforms, which cannot access Steamworks. We're working on sharing room data between players in another way which will make finding games from other regions much easier.

There will also be a few improvements to the level editor, and we've been looking into how to better share levels between platforms. Currently you have to play a game with somebody to send them your level. We've begun initial work on a proper level browser where players from all platforms can submit levels. It would be hosted in AWS and enable uploading, rating, and downloading custom levels between all versions of CounterAttack! No ETA on this feature..
