Beret is a 2D puzzle-platformer game about a scientist, astonishingly named Beret, who has gained telekinetic abilities through his research at the Evil Corporation. He decides that the Evil Corporation is a tad too evil for his liking, and begins his solitary quest to overthrow the corporation and punish the evil deeds of his employers. Beret has 21 puzzle-filled levels, 120 collectable Medallions, over 20 hours of gameplay, and an unlockable level editor.

Here's a compilation of maps I've created:

Level 1 (v0.1.9999) - Introduces: basic controls, running jumps, medallions, telekinesis, enemies, clearing, save states, restarting and leaving, exiting, x only walls, doors
Level 2 (v0.1.9999) - Introduces: continuing play, block types, spike balls, alternate run controls, medallion fragments

Some notes about the maps:

zooms for signs make use of blend fill from #25140b to #d69636, mode 'darken only' and 50% opacity
zooms for doors to reach exit make use of blend fill from #004912 to #009d29, mode 'normal' and 25% opacity
zooms for doors to not reach exit make use of blend fill from #493f00 to #9d8900, mode 'normal' and 25% opacity
zooms for doors to reach boss make use of blend fill from #ff0000 to #272727, mode 'normal' and 25% opacity

Wow, this is very thorough. I know you've made maps of several other levels, and I know that there's at least one group of people who are speedrunning the game and will probably find these very useful. Feel free to upload a pack of maps as an addon on this site as well if you'd like.

Note: I provided many mirrors for xcf image as part of research to see which file hosting providers will last the longest or indefinitely. The xcf image is for the gimp for anyone that wants to easily produce alternative designs, fixes or for any other purpose. There are layers.

It's quite nice to have a general overview of what a level looks like (or how far away the exit is from the starting position), but I have to warn you: while I don't think you'll have much trouble with the main Beret levels, doing something like this won't be possible for all Beret levels, since the way exits are coded means you could have a non-simply connected map, where the rooms might not fit together in 2D Euclidean space, or a room might be "on top of" another room, or you could go West in an infinite loop, like the surface of a cylinder, to say nothing of maps that don't make any sense at all.

Sometimes it's just nice to zoom out and see an overall map of a level, to compare the architecture of the level's rooms in terms of the wall shapes to the other levels.

Nooo, you're exposing all the little inconsistencies in architecture between room boundaries! :)

It looks like you left the side rooms through the doors in the same room as the finish door off of the level 9 map.
