3079 is a futuristic, open-world action first-person role playing game. You arrive on a planet experiencing constant war. It is your duty to find out why the warring factions cannot find peace on their own & hopefully restore it yourself. All areas, buildings, items, quests and characters are randomly generated. You will find unique lands & challenges. I hope you enjoy it! "Just want to say again that this is a great game! For those of you who feel like its a minecraft copy just beacuse of the cube textures used you really need to rethink what a game is about! The game play of 3079 is nothing like minecraft it is pretty unique as well as how the weapons all have diffrent stats and colors kind of reminds me of Borderlands. However it is still an original idea for a game and i still play it from time to time. You should at least try the demo and if you like it please buy it and support fruit! :D Still give it a 9/10 ! Just started getting into this game after buying it a week ago or so, and had some questions that I can't seem to find the answers to.

When playing, it seems the rate at which the world 'pops in' seems kind of slow. I tried the different rendering settings in the launcher but don't see a difference.
It's just a little annoying when traveling, when I come back to my city and see half of it is 'water' and have to wait 30 seconds for it to load before being able to continue.

The game runs very smoothly, I have no framerate issues, so I was just wondering the reasons behind this.
I have updated to the latest version, 2.17.6, and check frequently for updates, and noticed one of the patch notes:
* Improved the responsiveness of terrain loading a bit
So do I have to continue to wait for patches to fix this, or is there another way to allow the game to take better advantage of my system?

So far I've been enjoying this game, it's just things like this that stick out awkwardly.
--------------------------------------
Also is there anywhere to see the full list of key bindings? When configuring keys through the launcher it only shows some, others (page-up,page-down,end) aren't shown.

One reason I was wondering was if there was a way to toggle 3rd person? It might not be necessary though, because I noticed you can see each other in multiplayer and it might be nice to see yourself sometimes too.

And also on the first game I started after buying the game, I was playing for a bit, and was pressing some keys, then suddenly the game started moving in slow motion. Everything I did was super slow and I couldn't find a way to fix this, even when quitting and reloading the game.
I had to start a new game, which fixed this, but worry what I would do if it happened again.
---------------------------------------
Another thing I was wondering in relations to multiplayer.
I wasn't able to start a server through the launcher, but was able to start one with a .bat, as was explained in the launcher.
But I was wondering about characters and worlds in relations to multiplayer:

If I start a server, then play that server with my character from single-player, then quit and shut down the server; when I start the server back up and load in that same single-player character, will it be the same world? As in any home-point or 'house' I've built will still be there?

I'd hate to compare two different games, but on Minecraft when you create a server there's a new 'server' folder with all the world data.
For 3079 I see three folders; , 3079, .networkCache.
Is one of those the servers world? So if I wished to transfer it I could copy an paste?
--------------------------------------
Thanks for listening, this game seems fun so far, though it takes a little bit to get used to.

What kind of system specs do you have? It shouldn't take "30 seconds" for your terrain to fill in... I have been trying to improve the terrain fill-in rate, but it is already pretty heavily optimized and it works pretty good overall, as far as I know. Is there any other applications running on your machine that might be sapping up CPU usage?

You can hit F1 while playing to see the full list of keybindings.

No 3rd person view as of now... 3079 is meant to be a "first person shooter" with no 3rd person option...

When you started moving in slow motion, was there a red or yellow "Effects" indicator in the upper right hand corner? You may have gotten hit by an enemy "Effect Transfer Unit" that decreased your movement speed. It should wear off in a minute or so, though...

The world you play in all boils down to the name you use for the player. If you load a player, it will use that player's world (which will be shared with the single-player game). If you start a new world as a server, a new folder with the new player's name will be created. .networkCache is meant for clients for caching terrain data to be used in maps (so clients don't request tons and tons of terrain data when scrolling through maps).

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the reply.

Hitting F1 only seems to show the re-bindable keys, and not the permanent keys such as page-up, page-down, end, etc. Which are used for increasing-decreasing mouse sensitivity, reversing aim, etc. I know you know this but I'm just being sure to be specific.

Now that I've been thinking about it, the slow motion thing could have been because at that time I was playing with the hertz on my mouse, and decreased it to a lower level, ~120-ish I think, I can't remember. But this slow motion made everything slow, allies, enemies, myself, and it never seemed to resume normal speed. I had assumed I hit a key on my keyboard that changed game speed, but never really found out exactly what happened.

The 3rd person thing isn't really necessary, I was just curious, it would be nice to see see armor on yourself, but this doesn't bother me.

Here are my specs:
Windows 7 x64 Home Premium
Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 @768MB
Intel Core2 Quad Q8200 @2.33Ghz
8GB DDR3 RAM

In regards to world loading speed, 30 seconds might be a slight exaggeration, but it still seems to take a while. When I was constructing my shelter it seemed every time I looked away from my shelter and looked back at it, half of it had to reload. And when I head from the center of the city towards the exit I always end up hitting the 'edge' bordering water and have to wait for more to load before continuing to the city gates, then wait for the next bit to load and continue again. Traveling through buildings can be a little frustrating, since most of the walls are invisible as I'm navigating through the building, and the doors take a few seconds to 'disappear' when opened.

It seems weird how chunks seem to be unloading themselves too readily, every time I turn around a bunch of objects have unloaded and have to reload again.
And as I said above the game seems to be running very smoothly, with the occasional hitching if there are large numbers of 'people' onscreen firing weapons, which I think could be resolved by using different graphics settings.

Speaking of graphic settings I'm not sure which one(s) would be best for loading chunks the fastest, since I don't see a difference. Even if I set it to 'basic, tiny draw distance' chunks take just as long to load.
----------------------
I've been playing this game for hours today and it's been great. This chunk loading issue is the only immersion-breaking issue I've been having, besides some much smaller quirks like AI pathfinding, etc.

And I'm not sure if it matters, but I'm using the Gamersgate version, if there is such a thing, since it seems Gamersgate just gives a link to download the newest version of the game.

Thanks again,
Vince

Edit:
Oh, also when playing any games I always make sure I have all programs and background programs possible closed.
I only have my anti-virus running (Kaspersky) and I have it set to ignore the 3079.exe.
I am also running Game Booster to keep other background programs closed.

Edit:
Here are some images about the chunk loading I'm talking about.
When I took these images, I started in a city then starting heading in a straight line in one direction,
near the edge of the city I took the first image, then as I exited the city I took the second.
I was just walking regularly, not using any high-speed fighter or anything.

Edit:
Hey I just noticed something.
In the launcher I've been using the option 'Configure More Video Settings' and setting the fourth option to 4x.
I had thought that option was anti-aliasing, since AA usually goes by 2* increments like the numbers under this setting do.
However when taking screenshots with the 'disabled' option and the '16x' option, there is no difference in aliasing.

Does this option do something else I shouldn't be touching?

Edit:
It seems using a mini-fighter is pretty much suicide now.
If I try to travel anywhere outside the city I'll be flying over miles of ocean and end up crashing into invisible mountains or buildings.
No matter how careful I am it just doesn't work.

Edit:
Been playing multiplayer with my brother now.

I've run into what seems like a bug though.
Whenever accepting the quest to kill an enemy merchant, I head to the quest location and it just points to an empty spot on the ground.
Two times I've accepted this quest and it's happened both times. It was during daytime so it's not an issue of the enemy being invisible or anything, and the quest marker stays at the same spot on the ground. I've tried shooting the spot, but the only thing I can do is cancel the quest.
Edit: Same thing happening with the kill enemy leader quest.
Edit: That's twice for the enemy leader now.
