Hey Everyone,

Asteria is a 2D Sandbox platformer, and I've been playing it like crazy for the last few months. I really feel this is 'Underdog' worthy, but that thread has been locked. At first glance it appears to be 'yet another XXX copy', but I shelled out for it and have NOT been disappointed. If you're one of those people who like games with an objective, instead of the mindless repetition of most other Open Sandbox games, then this will fit in nicely.

Here is the Trailer:

First, as I mentioned above, is that it has an objective. There are 9 Levels in game that you are required to beat in order to progress in the game. In fact, you actually can't progress deeper until you've finished the current 'Level' that you are on. This has been something that has been missing from most games lately, and it was nice to have an actual goal. I'm not a fan of the 'You're here, now go do what you want' style, and it's the main reason I have a hard time playing Terraria anymore and just can't seem to get into Starbound.

Second, the developer has taken pretty much everything I have disliked about most Sandbox games, both 2D and 3D, and made it enjoyable. EVERYTHING in the game is ranged, including the mining. No more tedious hours of just digging a single block at a time to get the resources to build that one item. There are no melee weapons, and there is a small selection to fit pretty much everyone's play style from Shotguns, to Homing Missiles, etc. This also plays into beating the bosses, as I found that certain weapons are better at fighting certain bosses, even if it wasn't my preferred choice.

Third, (and this one is AWESOME). Is that the developer has programmed all the Level building tools right into the game itself, and used these tools to create the game. Why is that so Awesome? Well, when you complete the game, you get an item that unlocks all these tools for yourself. So EVERYONE who beats the game gets the ability to make their own content. They've even put in an in-game sharing system to make it even easier to share with friends.

Other highlights that should be noted is that there is Multiplayer, and it's fully functioning. They even have a public server built into the game for everyone to use, and you're more than welcome, even encouraged to start your own. They've also just recently released a patch that fixed some of the bugs, especially with the Final Boss in Multiplayer. (Oh, and they added controller support!) I've played with a few friends on Multiplayer, and it's been a blast. For the Coders out there, he's also open-sourced some of the code, so that you can create your own bosses, weapons, mechanics, etc. if you have the know how.

There have been a LOT of 2D Sandbox games out there, and people have been drawn back into them since the Terraria update, and more recently Starbound. BEFORE those came out I was looking at other games that might fill the void, and find myself going back to it. Even when I try to play Terraria/Starbound with friends I can only take it for a few minutes as the mining alone just frustrates me in those games. I found this one on Steam Greenlight, and honestly it's kind of sad that it's still waiting for more votes. It's FAR more complete than the other Sandbox games I've looked at, so I HIGHLY recommend this if you're the kind of gamer who:

1- Likes games with an objective and and ending
2- Is tired of playing games that seem to be in a perpetual beta, or you're still waiting for certain features like Multiplayer or Bosses.
3- LOVE Indie games, that push the genre while still being simple in it's appearance.

Thanks for reading, check it out, and vote for it on Greenlight!

Permission to say, this is a poorly written review. Partly because it comes across as an advertisement, and partly because you spend a fair chunk of it badmouthing other games instead of telling us why this great.

While I don't claim to be a review expert, start by telling us what the game is and what it's about. Then go into details, starting with a positive if possible and working through. End with a wrap up and conclusion of your overall opinion.
