Description
The small team of two behind Psychosis, a retro-style survival-horror game. Aaron Gilbert, the founder, works as a Gameplay Scripter for a Scottish AAA games company. He tends to wear almost every hat when it comes to making his own games, coming from a background of making Star Wars Battlefront II mods, which he's been actively doing since 2010. Aaron's mods have received praise from gamers and press and are often featured in "best of" lists. Richard Savery is the music composer for Psychosis. He is a developer of artificial intelligence and robotics, using music and creativity as a medium to program better interactions, understandings and models. He is currently a Research Fellow at Macquarie University, developing new robotic musicians.
History
Aaron originally started Psychosis as a game about relationships, having been inspired by the works of Charlie Kaufman. The aim was always to make something low-fi and retro-styled, but the relationships idea was flimsy and not very fun to play, so the game pivoted to horror, a genre he's been interested in for a long time. It worked perfectly with the retro style, as horror thrives in low fidelity.
After a few months of designing and prototyping, Aaron enlisted the help of Richard Savery to produce the game's music. The two had worked together on an unreleased horror game several years prior.
