Post news Report RSS World objects are now more reactive!

Previously, objects in the world such as lights, consoles as even trees and rocks had fairly simple behavior when they were hit by weapons fire or explosions - if damaged sufficiently they would just disappear. If the world object was marked as an exploding type, on destruction it would blow up potentially creating secondary explosions, but at the end of it nothing would be left, just an empty space.

It seemed to me that this was a little lacking, so I've tweaked it so that world objects now react differently. When destroyed, objects can now leave burnt out wrecks or debris which feels far better. Another change related to this is that some of these wrecks can be looted for quantities of resources!

Here's a very rough animation showing how it works for light objects.

Nice work. Adding the extra world interaction is a great idea.

Interactive world content makes the game feel more alive, rather than just a static picture to walk though.
