Post news Report RSS What's Happening With "Lights"...

In which I discuss the future of the project! Very important for anyone following!

Posted by on

I will provide a short explanation of everything here, but I would like to point everyone over to this video as well: Youtu.be

The video is my main update, but here's a summary or what's said:

-The project is NOT cancelled.
-The project is being put on hold while I get back into a full time job and find a more stable spot in my life to where I can devote more time to this game.
-The gameplay mechanics and story are staying the same, only the length of the game and number of puzzles is being greatly reduced (from what was looking to be a 5 hour game down to 30 min-1 hour).
-Updates will be scarce for a while, so anyone who was following for the game project should be aware of this!
-Thank you everyone who has shown interest. This is definitely a disappointing but necessary decision for me to make, but I promised to finish this and I will!

Basically, unlike my first game project, "Lights" is not being cancelled by any means. But as I don't have the time or resources to devote to the project at the moment, I am putting it on hold. A big inspiration for the completion of this game was watching Markiplier play "One Last Night" and being appalled at how incomplete the final product was. I absolutely don't want to release something like that to the public, and so this decision is mainly so that I can ensure I give "Lights" my full attention and don't rush it (since there's no reason for an indie developer to do that anyway!)

I greatly appreciate everyone understanding. For those following, yes it may be a while before the next update. Thank you! :)

I understand. It's too bad you're shortening the game, and have to stop for a while, but it's better to have a 5 minute game that's terrific, then a 10 hour game that's horrible.

Take your time, and remember that we'll be here when you get back. :)
