A new post was recently made on the Empires Mod website earlier this month: Empiresmod.com
The post contains numerous videos of the remake in development as well as pictures of models and discussion of gameplay. As a sign of remake's development, it is claimed that Empires on UE4 is playable from start to finish. This does not of course make it release-worthy yet, but shows that substantial progress has been made in less than a year of work.
The "About Us" page states that the remake is in need of an animator and a game designer.
The Empires Mod website was updated. This update removed all links to the Empires Forum, a change that has been opposed by numerous players. To quote Mrdie, Chairman of the Empires League, "The Empires Forum has been in existence since 2004, and the topics and posts on its current iteration go back to 2006. The forum contains much that is still relevant not only to the community but to aspiring developers and those seeking to learn about the mod on Source".
Efforts have been underway for the past months to secure an interview with a gaming website to discuss Empires on both Source and in terms of a remake. In the event this is done it will be noted in a future ModDB post.
It can be stated with certainty that Empires' entire community remains strong and that years of stagnation have begun to be overcome through the mass-based efforts of the Empires League to call for a remake and to publicize it, as well as to call for the betterment of the mod on Source and the struggle against all anti-mod and anti-player figures and phenomena (above all the Tricksterites).
