Post news Report RSS Split-screen in Aerial Combat Encounters

Split-screen is definitely a feature that needs to be more frequent in modern gaming! That's exactly why we decided to add it to Aerial Combat Encounters. Today we'll take a look at the Split-screen features in Aerial Combat Encounters!

Posted by on

Hey guys! Today's topic is "Split-screen in Aerial Combat Encounters", so the speculation is off: Split-screen is going to be in Aerial Combat Encounters. We gave you guys some indications of Split-screen on Facebook months ago, so we're going to fully describe it today.

CONTROLS

Most important thing about a good split-screen experience is the control layout, and what's as important is knowing the controls.
So, this is the controller layout:

And this is the PC layout:

Keep in mind that these controls are W.I.P. (work in progress)! New features are being added constantly, so that means that we'll have to add new controls and change the control layout every once in a while, but expect something similar to this in the final product.

CAMPAIGN

Split-screen support is built into the campaign, and all missions are designed to have support for both Split-screen and Solo versions of the campaign. For example, in the second part of "Siege" a player takes control over AC-130 gunship, but if you're playing with a friend, one takes control over AC-130 gunship and one takes partial control over the A-10 Warthog.

For example:

Single-player

Co-Op

We will also include a separate 2 player campaign with different types of missions, and game-play adjusted for 2 players.

BATTLE ARENA

There's also this split-screen exclusive mode called "Battle Arena".
Challenge your friend to a dogfight!
Battle Arena is a game mode where you go battle your friend (or foe) in the skies of Aerial Combat Encounters, and try to out-maneuver and out-smart him. Last man standing is the winner.

FREE-FLIGHT

In free-flight you just fly around the maps from the single-player campaign, freely, with no objective, a little twist was that we added AI aircraft flying around, but we added another twist: 2 players!
You will be able to enter free-flight and fly with your friend, explore and find Easter eggs around the game!

We came to an end of another news post!
We discussed split-screen in Aerial Combat Encounters, and we discussed every single aspect of it currently available. We have more split-screen modes planned, and a few online modes too.
We can't wait to release the demo of the game so you guys give us some feedback on what to improve in split-screen. That's it, guys! Have a great life and thanks for the increased support in the last week! We hope to attract new fans and please our current fans. Some aspects of split-screen are now in-game thanks to you guys, and your suggestions! As always: sincere greetings from Zagreb! Bye!

Slowing down on the keyboard is a little strange, but, well, let's see :)

Maybe W for throttle up and S for down, or if the throttle is more "toggle" style, like by 50%~~100% it would be nice to be shift and control.

We will add 'W' as an alternative throttle up key and 'S' as an alternative throttle down key. Thank you for the suggestion!

Hello NeutronStudios,

Today is my first look at this game, and I must say that I'm impressed with everything I've seen so far.

After reading this article I have just one question; Are the controls going to be user-customisable?

Regards,
AUS_Doug

Hello Doug!
Not sure about an in-game feature, but you can change the controls for every Unity game to your liking by pressing the 'Input' tab, and Aerial Combat Encounters is no different. :)

Cheers for that; I've never played anything that uses the Unity engine before, so this feature was unknown to me.

Looking forward to playing it, best of luck.
