NRD Studios announces the support for Linux, for the game Champions of Demah.

After several requests about Champions of Demah for Linux, we are pleased to announce that we will support Linux. The release of the Linux version of Champions of Demah will follow 1-2 months after the release of the Windows and Mac versions.

We are planning a beta for the Linux version.

We will be supporting the Linux platform though a Wine package. Optimised for the package its self, so it shall be designed with virtualisation in mind :)

have you thought about releasing a native Linux version?

also, it may be a good idea to make sure you mention the Linux version is actually a Wine wrapper when selling, as that's not a good thing to figure out after buying a game

We have thought about a native Linux version, which we are still considering. But so Linux users can get the game early as possible, we decided to use a Wine wrapper as a temp fix.

But i 100% agree with you. I hate finding that games are not native. But mostly i find thats the case with PC games on Mac, and companies do not bother making a native version. When we have a solution for full native Linux, it will happen. Plus lets be honest, linux users (i also fit in that group) have kitted their computers out better or modified more then the standard user :) Therefore a wine solution should be fine for now.

I guess the main problem is the fact that the UDK lacks any form of support for Linux then?

Its not offically support, but with Wine at least, we can provide a temp solution to Linux users. Valve is pushing Steam to Linux. Its only a matter of time before UDK i hope.
