We mainly changed our game this week based on the feedback we got from the last playtest session,

  • We added audio and sound effects to the game, which help to create a more immersive atmosphere.
  • We added a title screen and die animations, and improved the transition between different levels.
  • We added checkpoints inside each level to make the game less punishing.
  • We added guidance inside each level to make the players better understand the mechanics.
  • We improved the rope physics. For now, the players need to corporate together and make use of the swing mechanic of the rope to win the game. Also, the length of the rope can be adjusted now.

We made these changes to provide a better user experience. For example, previously the players complained about the game being too punishing at the playtest session because there were no checkpoints, so we added checkpoints this time to make it more friendly. We would like our project to be headed towards a story-rich, user-friendly, mechanics-innovative game with well-designed art and environment.

We plan to bring the following changes to the next iteration,

  • We want to become better storytellers. We will complete the storyline of the game to make the players more immersed and empathic when playing the game.
  • We want to refine the level design and make different levels more varied. We will add new mechanics and features at each level.
