Hello Friends!
In this dev log we will be showcasing our artist's work in creating all the different concepts for the characters in our game!
We wanted to come in here today and talk a little bit about the different characters in our game, their backstory, and their design with you!
The Characters:
Delivery Capybara
The main character of our game is an enthusiastic Capybara that comes from a distant island. They are always super excited to deliver all the provisions to the different stores and to meet different people!
Kimono Seller
the kimono seller is a snobby lady who is secretly in love with the fish seller, but doesn't want anybody to know since is is not as refined as she is.
Fish Seller
The fish seller is a simple and loving guy. He loves being close to the sea and selling his goods to the people that visit the harbor. He doesn't know why the kimono seller is always giving him gifts, but he appreciates the gesture.
Boat Tech
The Boat tech is a chaotic individual that loves to create new things. He has a twin brother, but weirdly enough, they were never seen together in the same place.
Black Market Merchant
The black market merchant is a shady character that always has the best deals in the island for everything you will ever need.
He is always talking about his twin brother and all the adventures they've had together!
To know more about these characters, the player will need to become friends with them and unlock new entries in their journal that go more in depth about each of them!

something i recently learned was that (depending on your game engine) you can just draw each limb on a separate frame (example: image of JUST the head. image of JUST the body, legs, arms, etc)
why do you do this?
you can customize a HECK of a lot easier with this, not to mention the added bonus of being able to focus on animating one thing at a time
other than that bro, art looks great

The character all look so charming!
The designs are all super cohesive with one another, but each character still manages to be unique and distinct from the others.
Love the fur pattern on the fish seller, great work so far and we can't wait to see more! :)
