I spawned a bunch of AI tanks to fight each other! Watch as the smoke and mayhem fill the air with explosion and confusion, flying armor piercing shells, counter measures, and anger! AI tanks currently do not have any distancing abilities to distance themselves between their own allied tanks, so they clump up like infantry do. I will be improving on that later.
I still love your effects, i have some suggestions though :
I think you need to make a rain go from top, mix it with barely visible white fog and random ground hit splashes. That'll make it look perfect and won't confuse players with in what dimension they are.
Think on adding camera shake to explosions.
Also you can try to add radial blur to explosions ( big and huge ), it really adds a good feel to it.
Try to use fast fade out on tracers instead just sudden dissapearing.

What do you mean by the rain "going from top"?
Here's what i mean, screenshot from my old GameMaker TDS game :
the rain makes it look like the grounds moving, its a bit trippy.
hehehe, hopefully it wont feel trippy when the player is running around in an actual level, as this level is just a blank background.
