For now, just a follower of mods, player of video games, and recorder of commentated playthroughs/"let's plays" for the internet. I've done a bit of voice acting, but mostly in reading text in Morrowind and Penumbra, and a couple of lines for a project idea I had. I hope to, sometime in the future when I have more technical skill and time, possibly work on this project with the intent of it being playable and perhaps contribute to some other projects, but I don't think that is particularly doable at this point.

Disappearing for whatever reason yet again? Whatever. Taking away the only download link for the mod that isn't tainted with Atmosfear, which also needs to be found on someone else's profile? Not so acceptable.

60 may be a good framerate, but losing performance for seemingly no reason is far from something you just wave off as "not a problem because I say so". Lower priority than "game's not completable due to bug X", but surely something to still fix, especially if it's reported that other renderers don't suffer the same issue. DX10 issue? Renderer issue?

Sounds like the old issue with an XVID-encoded AVI (that doesn't even play in the game in my experience) causing a crash when it tries to "play". Solutions I recall have involved reinstalling XVID, extracting the file from the .db files and placing it in gamedata where the file should be, and/or set windows media player as the default player for avi files.

So sorry an entire forum isn't waiting hand and foot to provide dozens of answers within seconds of the great and powerful russellie's demands for help. I don't suppose you're ready to eat your words when you see 5 more posts in that thread with information and resolution discussion.

Any particular reason OL2010, mod pack 2013, and a Lost Alpha patch are listed in mods for this? I can almost guarantee they aren't compatible with Build 1935.

So, I'm curious (and a couple years late): Why not at least update the downloads page to point to this? I've made it past the Radar brain scorcher disappointed that the mod pack seemed to just be OL2.2 with some fancy shaders I had to disable because this toaster of a laptop can only handle static lighting, only to now find out the downloads page doesn't even have the right version of the mod available.

It sounds more to me like the reverb one would expect from a small, concrete room. What's strange to me is the fact it disappears if you walk down the stairs to that bedroom.

"removed the strange reverb when eax is enabled, and added more stable sound dlls"
Care to elaborate? Half the reason of having EAX at all is to have the soundscape reverb effects in-place so the audio doesn't feel so flat.

It's a really stupid bug, but it seems to only be caused by remapping the (horribly placed by default) quick save and quick load keys.

Who is Sid's original VO, anyway? Neither IMDB nor GSC themselves have been very handy at documenting who voices who.

If I had more time before shipping off (rigorous training program for my job) I'd try to give it a shot. Good luck with the search!

Jump in the back of the truck near the entrance. As long as you have decent radiation protection and know to low crouch when a controller tries to psy attack you, you're practically guaranteed to win unless you let one get close enough to kill you with the psy field. At least, that's what worked in 2.0.1. Not sure if the later patches changed that.

Do you have a real sound card (i.e. Creative, or other discrete card) or an onboard/USB card? Do you have EAX enabled?

I think the EAX setting is the one to look at first. If you have OpenAL installed, the (very limited amount of) EAX audio effects are available even with crappy onboard audio. (That is, the positional audio will work properly for all sounds. Reverb is unavailable without a Creative or other EAX 3.0+ card, but that only exists in a couple of SOC levels anyway.)

Combat Helmet repair kit actually does something, and sewing kits are less picky about what you can repair with them (which is nice because getting bitten by dogs two or three times and seeing the basic kit refuses to fix it is annoying) seem like reasons for 2.02. Other changes seem to be enough to just isolate those fixes and install them alone.

Now that's just not true. Making the combat helmet repair kit actually DO SOMETHING is certainly an improvement! :P

"I hope there will be a lot of options to turn this "hold-my-hand" options off."

Agreed. I'm hoping that the GSC-demanded "make it easier" isn't nearly as bad as even Metro:LL, let alone other modern shooters, along with having a "hardcore" option either present or added as a mod.

I haven't seen that since SOC.... That is certainly interesting. I wonder if it's like the PDA, Guitar, and Harmonica in that only certain circumstances will it appear.

Ah, the sycophant responses to any form of criticism keep coming! I really do wish you people would stop being morons and refuting every bit of criticism with token phrases you'd expect some teenager on the official Battlefield or Call of Duty forums.

I like the new smoke effect, but it seems a little too... static. I don't know if such an effect can be applied to the particle effect, but would it be possible to apply the volumetric smoke effect to the gunfire smoke? Not a terribly necessary thing, just something to make the effect look a bit better.

I'm simultaneously hoping these are both better optimised AND less restrictive (in terms of time of day, light source, and maps the effect exists on) than Clear Sky's.

The effect looks great either way!

It's nice to see the music addon completely breaks the game if the user decides they don't like the ****** choices of music. Crashes right at the SGM logo because it keeps looking for files in the folders created by the installer (why is a music addon a .exe anyway? Unbelievably stupid decision there.) instead of the pre-existing music folders.

Just a warning to potential installers: don't get the music pack OP is hosting if you don't like terrible pop music in 48 kb/s mono quality. It'll just make you re-download 1.6 GB of data and unpack a .7z again to remove it.

Hello, Stalkers. I have mirrored this file due to the loss of its only other download link.

Dropbox.com

You will need to have 7zip installed to open the archive. I believe the retranslated mod is included in the archive as well; I hope that isn't an issue.

Well, I don't know about "standard" since a lot of companies like to forsake betas or just use them as hype machines....

But in all honesty, a beta to help find bugs and such that can be missed in internal testing by virtue of having a much larger "team" of testers is nothing but a good thing.
